About a year ago I was given a small group of photos, but since they weren't my direct line I really didn't try to I.D. them. Today I found one pic. of a pretty young girl about 10-12 with her hair parted in the middle of her head and long curls hanging down all around. She might be a light red head, but the photo is a b/w. She is standing beside a table (studio pose) & wearing high top black shoes. Also has on a ruffled long-sleeve dress. On the back of the photo in pencil is written what I read as Sarah Yelton. The photo was taken by T or F A. Remington in Newport. I don't know if this is the Sarah Yelton who married Dudley Dunaway or the one that married Francis Marion Gosney. Can anyone help? Hi Beth, My hubby says that photography really began (studio type) about 1839. It became popular quickly - by roughly 1845) So, I think Sarah Yelton who married Dudley Dunaway would be too old by 1845. She was born in 1816 and if 10 or 12 that might be too early for studio photos. Sarah Margaret Yelton who married Francis Marion Gosney (b. 1833) would be a good fit though. There are a couple more Sarah Yeltons, in Pendleton Co., KY that might fit the time frame. If Pendleton Co., is not too far away from Newport.
