    3. That's a fact, but when we got together, Suzanne, it was about equal. I don't know who talked the ear off the other! OK, everyone, is this a family trait or not? What do you think? I too stopped at the Yelton Mill about 6 months after it was purchased. They were very nice and even gave me a hat (like the workers used to keep hair out of the flour) with the name "Yelton Flour" on it. If we ever manage to get a reunion going, I'll wear it. 3. I believe that Lakeside Mills was an eastern NC Mill from the 1736 date. When they bought the Yelton Mill in Spindale, they just kept the Yelton name on the products. Everything else became Lakeside. Correct me if I'm wrong Don. Would any of the Historical Societies in that area have other information about when it was Yelton Mills? Iris From: Don Yelton To: YELTON-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, 28 February, 2003 19:04 PM Suzanne, I don't know where the 1736 date came from, but my grandfather started the one located in Rutherford County. 3. Hi everyone, I originally sent this on Saturday, 25 September, 1999 Since we have had a lot of new members since then and I've had an inquiry or two about it..... Here is some information about the Yelton Flour Mill... Archie Rollins Yelton, b. 30 Jan 1858, d. 8 Jun 1923, began the Yelton Milling Company in 1913 on Cleghorn Creek, East Court Street in Rutherfordton. It was moved to the present location on Railroad Avenue (actually it is in Spindale, NC) in 1933. Yelton Milling Company passed out of the hands of any Yelton family member about 1992. As far as I know, the flour is still sold in NC, SC, GA and TN with the Yelton name. Does anyone have any other information to add? Iris F. Reily Yelton-list Mom ===== Iris F.
