    3. Dear list, This came to me from various other lists that I am on and I thought some of you might be interested in taking the survey. I'll be in the "black hole" (no computer) from Thursday of this week until about April 5. We're heading back to PA. Lots of work to do there. If you have any pressing questions, I'm sure someone on the list will be glad to help until I get back on-line. 2. Dear Debbie: You are certainly correct in that Dora Caldwell and Jasper N. Yelton are not listed in the Pendleton Co. Marriage Index. Thank you for noting something I should have caught myself. But I thought you would want to know that both her obit in 1911 and his in Feb. 1922 state that they were married Aug. 12, 1880. According to the obit Dora was born Sept. 27, 1861 near Demossville, Ky. Pendleton Co. and died Nov. 29, 1911 in Knoxville, Tenn. Please note, Debbie, the birth date of Sept. 27, 1861, not Aug. 27, 1861. (The same source as the marriage location!) Carolyn

    1. [YELTON] Pendleton co. Ky. Newspapers
    2. Kathleen, Glad that you found the obits to be of use; old newspapers are a great source of information, especially when families like the Yeltons and Bryans live in one area for extended periods of time. Thought you would want to know that the Falmouth Outlook editions are available beginning in June of 1907. There are some earlier editions of other Pendleton Co. papers available through UK, but unfortunately few are complete. The list is as follows: Falmouth Independent: 1877 Complete year; 1878 Jan. 3 thru June 20, July 11, July 18; 1879 Feb 13 thru 24 July Falmouth Pendletonian: 1881 Jan. 20,27; Feb,3-24, Mar. 3-31, Apr. 7-28, May 5, 12, June 2, 16, 30, July 7, 21, 28, Aug. 4-25 The Guide: 1886 Feb 11 The Pendletonian: 1898: Oct 13; 1902 Feb 27, May 1; 1904: Jan.14, May 5; 1905: Feb. 9, Apr. 25, Sept 12 Falmouth Democrat: 1884: Oct. 10, 31; Nov. 21; Dec. 5, 12 1885: Jan. 9, 23, 30; Feb. 6, 13; 1886: Feb. 5, Oct. 8; 1895: Aug. 30 Happy hunting, Carolyn

    1. [YELTON] Yelton-D Digest Request #18 on March 8, 2001
    2. There was a request for the marriage date for Alonzo Bryant & Rosetta. Also needed death date and burial place of Nancy Gosney Bryan d/o Robert H. Gosney and America Yelton. An article in the Oct. 20, 1922 edition of the Falmouth Outlook reads as follows: "The many friends and relatives of Mrs. Nannie Huddleston (nee Gosney), widow of the late George Huddleston, are pained to learn of her death, which occurred at her home near Vernon, Ill.,Sept. 29,1922. Mrs. Huddleston was about 66 years of age, was a native of this county, and spent a greater part of her life at this place and at Butler, where she is well known. She was a daughter of the late Hampton and America Gosney, and a sister of the late Oliver Gosney. She is survived by two sons, Bernie, and Charlie, of Illinois, and three brothers, Eugene Gosney of Illinois, Jasper and Robert Gosney whose whereabouts are unknown to the writer. The Obit for Alonzo Bryan in the Nov. 3, 1944 Falmouth Outlook (Pendleton Co. Ky.) reads in part: "He was twice married, both companions being good, true women; the first time to Miss Nancy Gosney, to whom three children were born,of whom two survive, Burney Bryan of Normal, Ill., and Charley Bryan of Vandalia, Ill. The second marriage was to Miss Rose Ella Robinson, to whom four sons were born, of whom only one survives, Howard R. Bryan of Grant's Lick. Both wives preceded him in death many years...." Evidently Nancy Gosney and Alonzo Bryan were divorced and both remarried. These obits will probably raise still more questions, but they are interesting and hopefully will provide some help. Carolyn

Sort of a take your choice. Her birth date of 9/1877 also make her 17 yrs. younger than Alonzo. This was not UNcommon, but may need to be verified from some source.
