Trying to find the parents of George W. Yeager. George can be found in the 1850 Preble County, Ohio Federal Census, age 20, living in a boarding house. There are no other Yeagers in Preble County. Nor can I find any Yeagers in the 1840 Preble Co. Census. So where did George come from? In 1852, George Yeager married Amanda Criger (as spelled in Probate marriage document). Amanda's last name spelled Creager/Cregar/Cragar/ Criger, etc. George and Amanda moved to Washington, Daviess County, Indiana around 1858, according to his obit. They can be found in the 1860, 1870, & 1880 Daviess County Federal Census. They are both buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Washington, Indiana. Ohio census, George is listed as being born in Ohio. In the Indiana census, George is listed as being born in Pennsylvania, father born in New York, mother born in England. Family rumor is that he is from Yeagertown, Mifflin County, PA. I can not prove this at all. This is my "brick wall" and have not been able to get any further on George for a year and a half. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
