Since our project is not well funded, when we help with a test it has been for a “key male” whose participation will help with a specific goal having to do with developing an understanding of the surname itself. So far we have only fronted for a 12-marker test. I feel that once someone has been sponsored into the project, and if they match others, it is incumbent upon the others to purchase further testing for that individual if needed for clarification. If it were a better funded project I'd be happy to offer a free-for-all. But this has worked so far. We've only sponsored a few people in but their matches were more than happy to help with additional testing for the benefit of their subgroup and grateful that a new match had been discovered.
