    1. [yDNAhgI] What the lab can do?

    3. I had a dream the other day. Someone took a few clades of y haplogroups I and J, did some triangulation to make an educated guess of what the IJ MRCA haplotype might look like. She then used a program to randomly bring that IJ MRCA haplotype up to the present. Then a lab friend went into a present-day male’s y chromosome, and using dna molecular manipulation altered the STR repeats to fit this extrapolated (invented) IJ MRCA haplotype. All known present day snps relevant to fitting this deception were also altered. Then this male’s modified y chromosome was used in a fertilization of an egg, and a male child was born with this “IJ” ydna. It was announced to the world this April 1 that a child was found from IJ haplogroup. How long and at what expense would it take to expose such a joke on us? Ken P.S. These jokesters might even have gone so far as to do full y chromosome sequencing so as to find all y snps unique to I and unique to J and eliminated them.
