    1. [yDNAhgI] Attention Continentals: SNP Z186 now available on FT DNA!
    2. Aaron Salles Torres
    3. Dear I2b1/M223 Project Members, It's been a long wait but the new M223 Z series SNP's are now finally available on FT DNA! If you belong to the large Cont group of M223 and/or have previously tested positive for L801, please consider ordering SNP Z186. Other than the fact that this SNP was discovered by 1000 Genome Project volunteers in individuals that were supposedly positive for L801, we currently have little information on Z186. So we need the cooperation of members from the various Cont subgroups to determine where Z186 fits on the Y-tree (hopefully it will equate to one or more of the Cont groups). If you do test positive for Z186, then please test for its downstream SNP's as well: Z78 and Z79. They are also available on FT DNA! To see the current M223 Z SNP tree proposed by the 1000 Genome researchers, please visit: http://bit.ly/M223Z186 . If you belong to the Cont subgroups (Cont3a and Cont2c) that are negative for L801 and would like to volunteer to test for Z186, your cooperation would be appreciated as well. To order these SNP's, follow the steps: 1- Log into your FT DNA account 2- Click on "Order an upgrade" (upper right corner) 3- Click on "Order advanced tests" (note: not "Order advanced SNP tests") 4- Select SNP in the dropdown menu 5- Type the SNP name in the box 6- Add to your basket, place your order To see were you fit on the M223 tree, please look for your kit#, surname or ancestor name at http://bit.ly/M223ClassicResults . Make sure to set table size to 1100 to view all results. Other test recommendations are: If you belong to the Roots subgroup of M223, please upgrade to the 67 markers. At the moment, this is the only way we can classify your results. And if you belong to the Ungrouped (unclear) group, please upgrade to the 67 markers as well and/or test for the recommended SNP's. There are some very interesting results in that unknown group and we'd love to learn more. Surnames include Nijwening, Chantereau, Thomas, Hesse, Taintor, Pastrana, Gautret, Costa, Young, Belding, Ferreiro, Wentworth, Spangenberg, Jesatko, Olivera, Fischbach, Loew and more. Finally, no matter what your subgroup, please invite all your matches to join the I2b1/M223 project so we can investigate your results together. Best regards, Aaron Torres I2b1/M223 Project Administrator

    3. I have attempted to view results at FTDNA and when I change the page s? It's been a long wait but the new M223 Z series SNP's are now finally available on FT DNA! What Z's should I order? To see were you fit on the M223 tree, please look for your kit#, surname or ancestor name at http://bit.ly/M223ClassicResults . Make sure to set table size to 1100 to view all results. When I try to view the results on FTDNA page and change the view size it returns to default view. Also when I click page 2 it doesn't change the page. What should I do? kit 12835 William McReynolds

    3. First Z186 test results are in: 14 out of 14 positive, all from the L801+ group. Kit 76513 tested Z78 and Z79 as well, and that result is Z168+, Z78-, Z79- I think there are more tests still pending in the first batch (523), but more testing is obviously needed.
