    3. John, Why do you think the yDNA transfer took place before 1776. With a match of 109/111, I would think it took place around the 2nd or 3rd cousin level, depending on the stability of the yDNA in those families. Marleen Van Horne

    3. Marlene, We have a very good family/paper trail to my ggg-gf, Jacob RHODES, born 1776, died 1829 and all his descendants. I've tested descendants of my g-gf, and his four brothers to 68 or 111 markers and have been able to estimate the 111-marker profile of their father, Christian RHODES, (1811-1859). On the KLEIN/KLINE side the paper genealogy has been traced back from a gentleman, born in 1917, died Jan 2012, to the KLEIN immigrant who arrived from Kirchardt, Baden ca. 1740 and settled in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. I've traced two other American lines to this same Kirchardt family and church. It is, indeed, possible that my ggg-gf was a KLEIN orphan adopted into a ROTH / RHODES family, ca. 1780-1790 in the Lancaster Co. area. I sort of doubt that as there were about six sons of the immigrant who could/would have adopted orphaned nephews in Lancaster Co. But it is possible that a KLEIN man died leaving a widow and with children who remarried a ROTH or RHODES. There were precious few RHODES as such in Lancaster Co. But there was a Philip ROTH in Warwick Twp for which Rothville is named. I'm tracing several families of ROTHs, RHODES etc. to determine relatedness etc. Most RHODES in PA were English or else were German ROTHs. Most KLEINs and RHODES are R1b with some R1a and some I1. I should know much more in six months.
