    3. I'll guess L338+ AS1 for Stuyvesant. My oldest ancestral line in western hemisphere was one of the first Dutch guys to come to Manhattan island --- about 1626 I think. Did you come across grave for a VanCouvenhouven (spellings were variable) He ran a brewery down on the south tip of Manhattan and later a "plantation" in "flatbush" across the East River. - - - - Kenneth Nordtvedt See "Tree for I1" and "Tree and Map for haplogroup I" at http://knordtvedt.home.bresnan.net showing my working tree for YDNA haplogroup I. I used to live near his grave in the East Village of NYC. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to Y-DNA-HAPLOGROUP-I-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. I do not recall VanCouvenhouven when I was studying my cousin's husband's family that arrived from Netherlands ca. 1662. His 6g-gf, Isaac Boilleau (now Burlew), a Huguenot family from Leyden, actually, was born on the ship one week before arriving in New Amsterdam. Peter Stuyvesant was eager to settle Staten Island so gave the new immigrants free farms if they could keep them. They were the sixth boat load to try farming on Staten Island but the Indians got 'em! Fortunately, my cousins ancestors whupped the Indians as necessary and set up their farms only to have the English arrive in a couple years and take over. Most of the Dutch were allowed to stay on their Staten Island farms. In the Map Room of the NYPL I found a Dutch map from the 1600's showing the Boilleau farm on Staten Island.
