    3. Carl, L41 is a defining SNP for haplogroup I, which includes both I1 and I2. However, L41 is located only 3 bases away from L75, which is positive only for I1. Thus, in the usual chip design for checking L41 there is a mismatch 3 bases away for I1 samples, but not for I2 samples. This mismatch seems to cause no-calls for L41 in I1 people when a chip is used. This is not a problem when Sanger sequencing is used. So FTDNA is indeed wrong if they have moved L41 from I to I2 Full Genomes shows also my I1-Z138 sample to be positive for L104, so maybe both I1 and I2 are positive for this SNP.
