    3. Thank you ken that helps to clear that up. No; they are now clearly known snps, having been found in one or more BigY results. They are identified in the sense that their positions on the y chromosome are given. They are just NEW. Big Y looks at approximately 10 million locations on the Y. So everyone will have newly discovered snps unique right now to himself. As more very close male relatives are tested, these downstream novel variants found in your dna will also be found in your close male relatives. That's the whole idea --- find new snps which allows pushing the Y tree closer and closer to the present. Ralph, given your isolated branch of M223, I'd expect a lot of novel variants (new snps). Do you know if there is a second BigY customer from L623+? Kenneth, We have a kit in I-M223 Project that the History had said it was completed on 29th May (day of the Big Y glitch) but his results only appeared today. He is listed with only 80 (mostly useless) Novel Variants and for his Known SNPs he has no M223, CTS6433 (which he tested + individually) and many of his SNPs between M223 and CTS6433 are reported as negative or no result. I have emailed FTDNA about it. 3. Ralph, Of your listed Novel Variants, you have 90 new SNP locations that appear not to be listed in other I-M223 members' results. Of those 90, you have S16171, S16500, S16912 and S22215 that were found in a Chromo2 tester and named by BritainsDNA. What we need is another L623+ person to test Big Y to give up that comparison in the L623 branch. At present I can only compare you to those from other branches which help to identify the SNPs that are upstream of where L623 split off.
