A recent exchange on DNA-Forums. What do folks here think about the 'pecking order' for testing of I1-ASgenerics? L338+ is quite young --- about 2000 years or 66 generations. This makes chances of WTY finding snps which split L338+ smaller, but they are still non-zero. There is no magic bullet other than efficient snp discovery methods. One can expand to 111 markers and see how one clusters with others within L338+ which is sort of a quasi-historical haplogroup now, being so young. I find it strange the happy birthday forum's discussion of the I1 z snps impact leaves out the quite robust fraction showing up negative for all three snps --- Z58, Z63, Z131. The AS1212 clade along with others seems to be of this population which remains I1* as of now. See "Tree for I1" at http://knordtvedt.home.bresnan.net However, AS1212 itself divides into two subclades. The one with 24/30/15 at 447, 449, 464d seems not to have had a member test yet for the three basic snps. There are of course a number of additional z snps FTDNA has not yet added to their catalog. We don't know how AS1212 will do with them. Hi Debbie 196787 could test L137.2 Of the 5 known L813+ two has tested this SNP - an uN2 positive and an uN9 negative. L137.2 could be private, but if it is not tested we will never know. I just received results for my L380 (negative, as you probably expected). Does this help anyone or anything? Is there any other test recommended at this point (and why)? My haplogroup is I1d1 or P109+ M253+ L22+ P259- M72- M227- M21- L380- L258- Cheers, John
I've just ordered these SNPs for one of my I1-AS2 CORBINs (#143803): Z59, Z60, Z63, and Z140 The family has already proven positive for M170, M253, Z58, Z138, and Z139. Negative results are on the CORBIN project web page: http://dgmweb.net/DNA/Corbin/CorbinDNA-results-HgI1.html#AS2 He's also a member of the Y-hap-I1 project, so his results are turning up there, too. Besides you, and the kit below you, everybody in that grouping is part of a 21-21/L803+ subclade, that should probably have their own grouping. I will probably do that tonight. I don't think it makes any sense to test snps further upstream. There are no Z snps downstream of M284. You could confirm that you are L369 and L137+, but I would not put high priority on that; it seems a good bet. L126+ L137+ L369+ Isles Scot haplogroup/clade is very young and your haplotype seems quite normal within it. Those three snps have been found phyloequivalent up until now after many tests. But that's not a guarantee for the future. -----Original Message----- From: William McReynolds Sent: Sunday, February 05, 2012 12:06 PM To: Y-DNA-HAPLOGROUP-I@rootsweb.com Subject: [yDNAhgI] What SNP's I am kit 12835 with FTDNA and tested positive for M223, M284 & L126. Thanks Bernie. I uploaded my results from 23andMe. Unfortunately, my uncle who did the I Y DNA testing is now deceased. As I was told by one of the FTDNA reps, he would have to provide a new sample for autosomal testing. The swab can't be used. His haplogroup is the old I2b1a1. I did, however, order the test for L369 on Jan 20th.
