Many of them were helped by the British to migrate to their then American colonies but some of them ended up in Ireland including at least 2 Veiss (Wyse) families who were accommodated on the estates of Abel Ram MP and they ended up in Old Ross in Wexford where their descendants - 9th generation - still farm there to this day. I think you can take it that the Bonaparte Wyse family and the Palatine Wyse families are not connected except in the 'adam and eve' sense. The Palatine family - my ancestors - only arrived in ireland in 1709 while your family arrived with the Anglo Normans in the late 1100s. My forebears were from Clonsharragh which appears to be about 25 km from New Ross. There are conflicting birth dates for the family in this era. There was a John who has birth dates listed from 1835 to 1840. His father, (my gr-gr-grandfather) John (1797), married Elizabeth Dougan and his mother was Margaret Wyse (1768), who came to America with them. Other children born in Ireland were James (1832), Margaret (1835), Patrick (1840), Mary (1842), Johanna (1844), William (1946), Elizabeth (1848). There was some historical information printed on the Wyse's in Ireland which I do not have right now but will try to locate. There is no confirmation if it is the same lineage, but it has the family moving to Ireland from England, as I remember it in the 1600's. There are 2 distinct Wyse lines in the SE of Ireland - the Waterford family (Bonaparte Wyse) of Anglo Norman descent here since the 12th century and the New Ross family who are descended from a group of 15,000 Luteran emigrants from what today is SE German. They are known as the Palatines and they arrived in Ireland c 1709 via England with the aid of Queen Anne. Two Wyse families ended up in New Ross as tenant farmers on the Able Ram Estate in Old Ross. My family tree includes a John Wyse b 1842 for whom I have no other information - could this be your man? A lot of Palatines went from England and Ireland to the US and its possible John was one of them, While originally Lutheran the group had to convert to Church of England when they arrived in London but all of the family records I have show the New Ross family to be Catholics from c 1800 on. However, I have very few photos of the family members. My tree currently goes back to John Wyse (1797 - 1880) / Elizabeth Dugan (1810 - 1899). I would appreciate any photos you could provide. My family tree is public - Priske Schermitzler Family Tree. Thanks! ~ Mary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'm not quite sure of the identity of the parents of William Wyse. I've seen John Wyse/Margaret Crawford or Robert Wyse/Ann Wand. If you know with certainty of William's parents, please help out. I grew up on the Bonepart connection and when I started researching for myself I found that the Thomas Wyse who married into the Boneparte family was English/Catholice and the time match didn't match. Where mine were Scottish/Protestant. Don't give up though, it took me years to find out what part of Scotland my family was from and once I found out that it all started rolling in.
