Wal-Mart, Penneys, etc., have the adaptor/converter packages for travel. Check by travel/suitcases. I burned my curling iron up in Scotland in under a second on 220V. I was so proud to be so organized as to have my adaptor/converter set. However, I put the adaptor on and plugged it in without the converter. It was totally electrocuted. It never had a chance to even get lukewarm. I purchased a curling iron locally (in Scotland) that worked better than anything I ever had before or since. 220V is soooo much hotter than our 120, you can really curl your hair FAST! The UK also has a butane type curling iron (at least they did in Scotland), which required no electricity. Having destroyed my favored curling iron, my vote is for purchasing cheap dual-current travel items and leaving behind the converter and adaptor.
