Hello CuzConnie, Re your "direct female line" question, does this require that I could trace my lineage to Martha Buttall through a continuous line of females. With Martha being #1 and me being #11, my line consists of 9 direct females and 2 males. I'm new at this study, so wasn't sure exactly what you are looking for. Thanks for the clarification. Dear Cuz Nancy, By any chance do you know any Female off of the last Female [your great grandmother] that could be tested? It is a shame that your not a total female to female line, it would be perfect for the DNA testing... The Mtdna is female to female to female to female all the way down. Y DNA is male to male to male to male to male... all the way down. Hugs Cuz B [email protected] http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ttg13/ "'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. Glad y'all found your Mtdna candidate in Princess Merle. Even though my line has 9 females, the 2 males interrupted the line several generations back, so I can't help with another candidate. Interesting that y'all knew of someone in Arlington, TX, that might work, before you identified Merle. Arlington is where my family lived when I was born, but had no hospital, so I was delivered in Fort Worth. I know that there are a bunch of Wynne cousins in Texas and Oklahoma who have not joined the group, and I have met Rick Wynne at my church here in TN who is a Thomas Wynne descendant. As I have gotten deeper into the genealogy study, it's been fun to discover with whom I share common ancestors. My husband and I share several common relatives from our Rhode Island and Massachusetts ancestors. When we tell our friends about that, we get some strange looks. My granddaughter, age 5, makes fun of me for sitting at the computer for hours on end "looking for dead people." Happy hunting to all you cousins.
