"Barton Papers" Daugherty/Dougherty Generously Transcribed and Submitted by Sherida Dougherty Daugherty - Daugherty Grave Yard - By Mrs. Kate Newkirk Falmouth, Ky. March 17, 1940 The Daugherty graveyard is on Middle Fork of Grassy Creek, up the creek a considerable way ( 1 ½ mi) above the old Baptist Church. The old Baptist Church was on an island in a Beech Woods, and was called "Beech Island". Going up the creek from the church, the first place was John Slick Daughertys (father of Gaines Daugherty). Next was Thomas Winn, Sr. husband of Louisa (Daugherty) Winn. Across the creek in the bottom was (Capt) Joseph Daugherty who was in Legislature from Pendleton Co.
