The British (don't call them English!) are born and raised with this, so they customarily keep their houses and offices set at lower temps than we are accustomed to here in the US. They wear long sleeves, and sweaters all the time. It is routine for motels and bed & brkfasts to turn off the heat in the morning, and not turn it back on until evening. Some places only have fireplaces for heating. And the cost for wood, coal, electricity, and gasoline are out of sight. I still want to go back some time. They have an internal value for old things, so there are lots of laws against tearing down or destroying anything old, which leaves many old ornate houses (some with straw roofs), huge trees, and narrow roads lined with stone fences. The 13th/14th century cathedrals are works of art, and can be the source of geneology records. And driving on the "proper" side of the road, and negotiating the "roundabouts" are an interesting experience. Cuz Gary
