Dear Cousins, I know Becky has wrote to you and told you that I was getting all of Olema's genealogy research. Well, I went and got it today. I didn't want to say anything until I did have it here for sure. And I wanted to surprize you all. For the ones that didn't know it, Olema and I were 1st cousins. Olema passed away this past April. Her son Robert [Rob] emailed me and asked me if I would want all of his moms genealogy. Of course I said yes and I feel privaleged in getting it. You see University of Kentucky was suppose to have got it. Well, today Lonnie [my husband] and I met with Rob and his wife Lenora, in Walton, Kentucky. We had lunch and then we loaded the truck full of boxes of genealogy. Olema had been doing genealogy for over 50 years and did it the old fashioned way of taking notes in long hand, going places and taking pictures of places and cemeteries/headstones. Joe, her husband, took her to several states for her research, that included the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania of course and for us being from Kentucky, she traveled throughout the state there. So, you all know for that long, she had accumalated a large amount of research. Right now I have about 18 to 20 boxes, packed full of research. I feel very fortunate to get all of Olema's genealogy /research and when I go through it and organize it, I will be glad to share with you what I have. I am sorry if I skipped around on writing this email, but I am like a kid at Christmas time. I am excited. I have boxes to open and they are full of surprizes. So, cousins, be patient with me until I get everything organize. And know, that the research is now with family and not in a Library's basement or something, waiting for someone to go through it. Love Joyce Gail
Dear Cuz Joyce Gail, Didn't know your were going to surprise us, or I wouldn't have said any thing. So glad it is safe in your hands, can't wait to see what all you find. So glad the information is safe, would hate for all her work to sit around and not be shared.
