Yep. The website says they will be closed starting next Monday and anticipate opening at the beginning of February. These renovations should be a good thing as they really need more research space. Right now there is a room for examining original documents and another area that goes around three sides of that room - there are some microfilm readers and files but little other space for using any of the research materials. I had not heard that they would be closed but I haven't been there for a few months - glad to know about it, however, as visiting the facility in the next couple of weeks was on my calendar of things to do. Now it will have to wait - was hoping to find some info on a great uncle who was literally lost in the Civil War - as in misplaced, here today-disappeared tomorrow. Oh, well, finding him has lasted for 150 years so I guess another few months won't hurt. Hoped to see if I could find any more info on him at the state level - the envelope at the National Archives is totally empty. So thanks for the heads up that will save me a trip. JoanII
