    1. [WGS] FTM Find and Replace - how to search
    2. Dear Cuz's, In working though Footnote, I started using the Find in my FamilyTree Maker program... thought I would share how cool this tool is!! If you are trying to find for example, as I was, if someone was in that place that you have in your database.. you can use the FIND AND REPLACE, to find that place if you have entered that name in your information. Example.. I was looking for Cumberland, any one that had Cumberland in the information... How: Click EDIT [in row where FILE EDIT VIEW PERSON TOOLS HELP is] Look down Menu and Choose: FIND AND REPLACE [or use CTRL F.. i.e. hold down CTRL button, then hit F] Window opens Type in the FIND box the word your looking for Be sure the check mark is in the "Find whole words only" Click FIND It will search your database for the first one it finds with that word in the information. If that person is good, and you want to look for another person, Click FIND NEXT and it will go to the next place where that word is. ..... IF you want to stop the search, at the bottom of the window where the scrolling green boxes are moving showing that it is searching, there is the word "Stop" click that and the search stops and you can then close the box or change the word or start the "Find" again. Once it finds the person that has that word in their information, you can click the "Go To" button and it will take you to that person. You can then "Close" the window, or replace the word, if you were truly using it to change the spelling or change the word... To replace the word with another, you type in the word you want to replace it with in the "Replace with:" box. I think this is a great tool!!!
