    2. Sarah and others Centre County Genealogical Society Presents: "BREAKING DOWN BRICK-WALLS WITH DNA" This seminar is an introduction to DNA testing related to genealogy with the emphasis on genealogy. *Do you know the meaning of YDNA and MtDNA and how that relates to your family lineage?* *Do you think DNA testing will give you a full lineage of your family history?* *Have you exhausted every record available and still find yourself with a brick-wall or hole in your genealogy?* *Has a distant cousin contacted you with a convoluted connection to your lineage that might be the missing information you need but you don't quite believe?* *Do you have a strong or weak paper trail to your ancestors?* Join us to discuss these questions about the who, what, when, where, why, and how of using DNA testing for genealogy and see examples from a surname project for testing relatedness. Who: Do I test myself or locate another family member to test? What: What do they need from me and how safe is it? Where: Where should I go for DNA processing for genealogy. When: Should I wait to test or should I have testing done now? Why: I have a legitimate paper trail so why should I test? How: How will I find a match with DNA testing? 2. Dear Cuz Connie, Glad to have you back on line!! Keep to the rehab we have a lot of running to do!!! On Footnote, I pulled 257 documents that pertain to our guys in the military... now sorting them out and connecting them to the right people in the data base. I went all through the Pennsylvania Archives, the Revolutionary War records, and the Revolutionary rolls, war pensions, continental troops and the executive minutes. There were more of our guys than I thought in the Revolutionary War and also a southern Wynn named Webster that was in the PA Militia in Dolphin Cty. Will be posting more about what I found as I get it all sorted. Hugs Cuz B ttg-inc@tx.rr.com http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ttg13/ "'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. 3. Dear cousins-- With the recent postings by Joe Dickerson about his ancestor's fatal duel with Andrew Jackson, I thought it might be of interest to some of you to watch a History Channel show on Andrew Jackson's life, this Wednesday night....not sure what time it is on in your area, but it will very likely at least mention the duel, and might provide some interesting comments on him and his opponent. Becky, There was an early Welsh settlement in Cumberland county. It was an area hit hard by the angry Indians at the beginning of the French & Indian War in the 1750's. Later it was likely a good stopping point before migrating further west. Note that other counties were created out of Cumberland, namely Franklin Co. in 1784 and as late as 1820 Perry Co. was created, containing a twp. named Toboyne. Regards, Jane
