Becky - The Jacob D. Wynn on the 1873 E. Nantmeal map that you were wondering about is the man who most likely had the following line: Dr. Thomas & Martha Buttall Jonathan I & Sarah Greaves Jonathan II & Anne Warner James I & Rebecca Steele James II & Ann Leighton Jonathan (1806-1879) & Elizabeth Richards (1810-1892) John R. b. 1837, m. Mary Templin. John served in the Civil War as a corporal, Co. D, 175th Reg't. Rachel Rachel Ann b. 1839, m. Clayton R. Pike Elizabeth J. b. 1841, m. Lewis Templin Howard b. 1843, m. Clara Hewing JACOB DOREMUS b. 3-5-1849, (d. 3-22-1939) m.Maggie L. Garvine The information of the children of Jonathan (1806-1879) and Elizabeth was found in a history of Chester and Delaware Counties, publ. ca. 1903 in a biographical sketch (p.478) of Jacob Doremus Wynn. The sketch also gave the following info on the family of Jonathan (1806): "Jonathan was of a family of nine children, namely: Thomas, a farmer Samuel, a mason James, a farmer (1801-1856, 2nd gr. gr'father of Chris Moore) William, a carpenter Isaac, a millwright Layton (pr. Leighton) Jonathan, a farmer Emily, m. Henry Buckwalter, of Newport, Perry Co., PA" The sketch gave a half-column to an involved and complicatedly punctuated list of the children, grandchildren and even a few great-grandchildren of Jonathan and Elizabeth, and I think I have sorted out the above-named five as the children thanks only to the 1850 census of E. Nantmeal of J&E's family!! I will try to mail you a copy of the sketch fairly soon, if I don't forget!! Cuz Chris
Cuz Becky: Per Hannah Wynn---------- I went back through those pictures from the Morgantown trip in 2004. You have noted that Warren Wynn's parents were William and Hannah Summons/Summers Wynn. Hannah (1814-1886) outlived William (1816-1875), so it is possible that the Hannah Wynn property on the 1883 map could have belonged to this Hannah Wynn. There is a Hannah Wynn buried in St. Andrews Cemetery who died in 1886. The William Wynn property that we viewed was on Wynn Hollow Road which is north of the Hannah Wynn property. There is also a Mary Wynn (1809-1890) buried at St. Andrews. A large print of it hangs inside the E. Nantmeal Township Building and we first viewed it in 2004 when Greg "Grump" Wynne led us around the area on our stay in Morgantown, PA. We referred to the map again on our tour this year. On Saturday morning, we left the East Nantmeal Township Hall and turned left on Rt 401. On the right, as we drove on down Rt. 401 would have been Hannah Wynn's property according to the 1883 map. I think there is now a big horse farm situated there. We then turned right on Templin Road and we stopped so Terry could take pictures of the old Joshua Marsh house. That house probably sets on what was the land of Mary Wynn in 1883. I think the Jonathan Wynn (1806-1879) Estate was to the left according to the 1883 map. Most of the Wynn's you mentioned below probably descend from James Wynn (1765-1832), who was the son of James Wynne and Rebecca Steele: 1) Dr. Thomas Wynne 2)Jonathan Wynne 1669-1720/21 3)Jonathan Wynne 1703-1788 4)James Wynn 1736-1817 Married Rebecca Steele 5)James Wynn 1765-1832 6)James 1801-1856 (also listed 1876) Buried: St. Andrews Cemetery 6)Samuel 1803-1867 Buried: St. Andrews Cemetery 6)Jonathan 1806-1879 Buried: possibly at St. Mary's Episcopal Cemetery 6)Thomas 1808-1862 Buried: St. Andrews Cemetery 6)David 1809-1886 Married Margaret Markley, Buried: E. Nantmeal Baptist Cem. 6)Leighton 1812-1840 Buried: St. Mary's Episcopal Cemetery 6)William 1816-1875 Buried: St. Andrews Cemetery 6)Emily 1825- But who is Warrin (Warren??) Wynn and how does he connect? On the 1883 map, his land is located very close to the Village of Nantmeal on the right side of the map. As you mentioned Warrin's(Warren?) land is to the north of Daniel Walleigh's and to the SW of the John Shalt Estate and east of the Village of Nantmeal. I did find a reference to a Warren T. Wynn (1855-1903); buried in St. Andrews Cemetery, West Vincent, Chester County. That might be the one I am looking for. He is the son of William Wynne (1816-1875), who is listed above. At this point, I am thinking the name (Warrin) was spelled incorrectly on the 1883 map. Maybe "Grump" will have some in-put on on Warren/Warrin?????????????????????? I do think it is the site I am seeking. Wynn Hollow Road wouldn't be far from where all these other roads intersect. In the mid-1700's, some of the land bordering the Quaker Burial Grounds to the SW was owned by John Marsh. There were also Kirk's nearby who owned land. Joshua Marsh owned land somewhere in the area of Wynn Hollow and Templin Roads. We (Terry, myself and some other Vance cousins) think our Vance ancestors also lived in this area. Thanks, Grump. Dear Cuz Ida, I am opening this up to the group so they can jump in, hope you don't mind.. but helps if more minds are in this discussion so no one has to catch up!!! ha ha [remember the Friday night round table??? LOL ] Your right, On the far right side there is a Warrin Wynn above Daniel Walleigh [? sp] and SW of John Schall Est. Also note the William Templin above Est. of Jonathan Wynn, And the Jacob D. Wynn to the NE of Est of Jonathan Wynn, well they both were also in the Revolutionary war and Tax records on same pages as our guys... [PS that map is hanging on the wall in the Nantmeal Township Building on Rt 401 not far from St. Andrews Church, per Cuz Grumps comments on the pictures] Cuz Grump [Greg Wynne] took us by William Wynn's farm, on Wynn Hollow Rd, he is buried at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Nantmeal Twp., James Wynn's house [2nd on our trip] on Wynn Hollow Rd, Cuz Grump thinks he is buried at the Old St. Mary's, Chester Cty., And the land of Rev. Jonathan Wynne. Then at this years 2010 reunion we went to Rev. Jonathan Wynn's, David Wynne's, That you guys sent me pics of. But I believe we went by Hannah's and some others..but Connie will have to chime in here. Ok here is where it gets tricky.... The Warner [Wind] Wynne that I sent the Revolutionary War info on.. is Brother to Thomas [Wind] Wynn/Anne Abraham, And Thomas [Wind] Wynn/Anne Abraham are the parents of Rev. Jonathan Wynne who married Mary Elizabeth Wynn who had Marsh Farm. [Mary Elizabeth Wynn Wynne was child of Jonathan Wynn/Letitia [Hewitt] DeWitt, And her father is also Brother to Thomas [Wind] Wynn/Anne Abraham, remember first cousins married!] and there is other brothers in this mix Isaac [Wind] Wynne and James [I] Wynne Now I need it explained to me who Hannah Wynn is..and also Who Jacob D. Wynn is..... I need to go back to Cuz Connie's e-mails. Hugs Cuz B ttg-inc@tx.rr.com http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ttg13/ "'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.
