Cuz's I agree! Most people did not read or spell. The census takers came from all backgrounds and were of different nationalities. Spelling differ. take for instance the marriage certificate of Nimrod and first wife Nimrod Wynn was also spelled Winn guess she or the cenus taker wanted to get it right. Nimrod cound not read or wright. In leanna's marriage certificate it was just Wynn. Later it was Winn and she was unable to read or wright. Oh in 1860 she married Theodore Ice in Henry county,. Mechanicburg Indiana just above their names on the cenus was a Louia Latchchaw ,I believe that to be her sister it shows clearly she was 18. same age as leanna 's sister would have been in 1860 and James Winn 's name is spelled Win . Jimmie Bill Hey there diana, Hey Becky. I may get back on the trail again on ole Nimrod. ----- Original Message ---- From: "ttg-inc@tx.rr.com" <ttg-inc@tx.rr.com> To: wynne-genealogy-society@rootsweb.com Sent: Sun, November 14, 2010 11:05:07 PM Subject: Re: [WGS] Mary Paterson Dufton Dear Cuz Diana, Totally agree on the census takers. The first time since 11/9 at 3:00 pm that my e-mails have gone through!!!! On 11/9 I tried to send a message to Diana via the group and my e-mail bounced. When I went to explore the reasoning, I found 2 things; 1. Rootsweb.com was going to do maintenance that evening. 2. My e-mail came back with a Mail delivery failure notification. Cuz David and I spoke that evening about this. I have tried daily to post e-mails. I have contacted Rootsweb, via their two options. Their response was that it wasn't their side that had a problem. I contacted Sorbs.net, signed up and reported the ip address our e-mail list is on and being blocked, asking them to remove the block, reminding them that Rootsweb was not a spamming thing it was a genealogy thing. I contacted my own RoadRunner e-mail company, and was told that it was not their sending but the blocking between RR and RWeb. The end result is this: I believe that when Rootsweb went to do their maintenance then inadvertently set off the "spam" gods i.e. sorbs.net, which in turn caused the blocking of our e-mails from being delivered to Rootsweb and then in turn to us. Today this seems to be fixed... hopefully this e-mail will go through!! They have always spelled their name with one t. All the correspondence to and from my great grandfather, Alexander, spells the name with one t. I've come to learn that the census takers seem to take their best guess as to spellings and don't get it right more often than not. Dear Cuz Diana, Even though the census's [1900, 1920, 1930] show them as Patterson, Robert Bruce Paterson's Passport that lists himself and his father shows his father and himself to be spelled Paterson, with one t, so I am changing my database to match yours. Dear Cuz Diana, After following this, I was looking at the wrong person... But I have them as Patterson's...with two t's. But I now notice in the 1930 census, they show one t, will have to look back to see where it changed or if it really was one t all along, trying to clean up my files. Becky, It is kind of hard to explain, but don't be surprised if something once fixed goes down again, at least briefly because we are talking about a whole interconnected network here and they often have to disconnect one thing to connect another, then reconnect it again. . .that sort of thing. They are working on it, but right now it is just going to take some time before they are back where they should be. David E. Dear Cuz's, I have found that even though the e-mails are going through, I have had to resend them a couple of times on a few of them, and others go in one send... so if you run into this, just try again. ok? P.S. Dear Prince David of the East... Thanks again for helping me this week, as always it's nice to have some support in the rootsweb world!!! HA HA Hugs Cuz B ttg-inc@tx.rr.com http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ttg13/ "'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain "

Dear Cuz's, In the new version of FamilyTree Maker, i.e. version 2011, they have added a "AKA" fact so you can put nicknames in!!! To do so: Go to person Click on "Person" tab Click on Name Click on "BLUE Plus sign" on top next to red X This will allow you to add a fact Go down list to "Also Known As" Click on it It will open you a blank on the right where you can put their AKA or nickname. This will now be shown in their personal fact area. Hugs Cuz B ttg-inc@tx.rr.com http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ttg13/ "'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. Dear Cuz Diana, I am sorry for the delay in my response to your e-mail. I am sorry to hear of her passing, prayers to you and your family. I have looked back over my data base and don't show her to have been part of the Wynne-Genealogy-Society, but I am sure she was part of society and researched Wynn's, as you say. Dear Cuz's, WHOOOO HOOOO!!!!! I am obviously not the Admin of this list, so please forgive me for sending what amounts to a "test message" to the list. If this does make it to the list, please be aware of the fact that RootsWeb is currently having some major problems, more than one of them that are combining to cause a myriad of difficulties. Some can send list mail but not receive, some vice versa, and some of the unlucky ones can do neither one, and in a few cases entire lists are down. I cannot give you any estimate on when it will be fixed, but as an active List Admin (though not for this list) I sure hope it is soon. Becky and I have been talking about this off list, so I hope she doesn't mind me posting this for information, and also to see if I can post to this list myself yet, since I was unable to do so earlier. Please DO NOT write to me asking when it will be back up, because all I know myself is what I've just told you from having been in contact with some folks in a position to know something, but in my opinion nobody at RootsWeb really knows themselves at this point. In a few words, they've "shot themselves in the foot," but that's about all I can say. David E. Cann decann@infionline.net Contact me on Skype at "david.e.cann"
Thank you for your prayers. We do appreciate it very much. Aunt Mary was a part of the original Wynn group a very long time ago when it met in Phillipsburg but I'm not sure she was part of the society that formed afterwards.
