I descend from those "early Baptist" Morgans some of whose descendants went to NC. Specifically, I descend from Esther Morgan 1678-1754 who m. David Jones. Esther's brothers were Thomas, Abel and Enoch; the later two were Baptist Ministers originally from Cardiganshire, Wales. Having later ancestors who lived in SW PA and NW VA, I have a number of ancestors who married into the Morgan Morgan family mentioned by Gilbert. (Also, at least one connection to the Boone family via the Lincolns.) As a consequence, I've collected a good bit on Morgans in VA & PA. Connie, when you refer (above) to the Morgans of VA/MD/PA, are you referring to your line of Morgans or to the Morgan lines which genetically match descendants of Dr. Thomas Wynne? 1. Re: [WGS] Morgan lines US that match Dr. Thomas YDNA
    2. Gilbert Sorry if this is weird. Our Dr. Thomas Wynne matches a group of Morgan's. Our line also goes back to Ancient Wales Ednowain Bendew abt 1047 (arguable which Ed Owain abt 1047 from Edwin most likely) but to there we are good. The group of Morgan's is back to VA/MD/PA it looks like for the most part the Morgan male lineage back to Gollwyn ap Gwyn abt 1000 but without much documentation. Becky and I can not find a relationship between Gollwyn ap Gwyn and Ednowain Bendew in the YDNA direct male lines. That makes us think that we need to go back and look at the Morgan lineage. I posted on another note that Cadwallader (all spellings) Morgan arrived on the ship Lyon with Dr. Edward Jones and Mary Wynne Jones. Most of the folks I have talked to agree that Morgan may not have been the surname at this point so we are looking at the ap/ab system of names. We have many places where the line daughters out and a few places where we need information. One of the other places we need to look is at Morgan Abraham father of Noah Abraham. That family is also coming from the same place in Wales and living with and marrying into our Wynne/Wynn's. Any of the Morgan's who have YDNA tested and match Dr. Thomas Wynn should join the Winn surname project. Becky and I can't access their info on the Morgan surname project. Cuz Connie aka SHREK

    3. Becky, I am very interested in the Morgan line as well. I have some research tracing a line of Morgans which include James Morgan born abt 1670 in Philladelphia died 1736 in Gwynedd, Phillidelphia Pennsylvania abt 1736. This line descends to Daniel Boone and my wife who appears to be 1 cousin 8 times removed to Daniel Boone. James' dad Edward appears to be from Monmouthshire, Wales. This line is a work in progress and includes Morgan Morgan as well who was prominent in settling of area currently West Virginia. I'm watching the posts with much interest. -----Original Message----- From: GramereC@aol.com Sent: Monday, December 27, 2010 10:12 AM To: wynne-genealogy-society@rootsweb.com Subject: [WGS] Morgan lines US that match Dr. Thomas YDNA Zachariah Morgan b 1775 NC (he is reported by some as born NC others VA and others Kentucky) Daniel Morgan 1776-1844 Robert Austin Morgan b 1846 Kentucky William Morgan 1821-1865 Randel Morgan 1710-1776 Faquier VA John Morgan Nathaniel Morgan 1778 NC These are the ones we are matching to YDNA for Dr. Thomas Wynne with a few mismatches. 3. Dear Cuz's, I have figured out how to make a chart from one person to another without all the extra people being in the chart!! We use to be able to do this in a descendants chart format back before Family Tree Maker changed to their new format. I have talked to Family Tree Maker and they are requesting that they make this in a descendants chart format also, but until then it is in a "box" type chart. If you want instructions of how to do this.. please e-mail me, and request the document I have created for you. It is named: "How to make Relationship Chart" Hugs Cuz Becky Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, But rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Wow, What a RIDE!!".

There are a bunch of connections like with the Wynn's. The line I am looking at goes back to Llywelyn ap Bledri abt(ROUGH) 1220 Cil-sant, Llanwinio, Carmarthenshire Wales. We have in our line Bledrws ap Ednowain Bendew abt 1085 (from bendew back we can debate) makes his kids born about 1115. _http://www.ancientwalesstudies.org/id85.html_ (http://www.ancientwalesstudies.org/id85.html) is the best place to look if you want. I have to look and see what Darrell Wolcott has to say on his ancient wales site about this 100 year lapse. If this is where the Morgan line goes it would put them in a direct male line with us and we should match YDNA. So any of you who are Morgans and Wynnes Myself or Becky would love to be in contact with that family association for Zach. Cuz Connie
