    1. [WGS] Margery Maude And Margery Hindle Fisher wives
    2. Jo Ann I got a chance to look at this a little closer and in my old files (not all on the computer). There is a generational problem with either John or Thomas Fisher. Both men were married to women named Margaret and the date of death commonly associated on many family trees with Margery Maude in Philadelphia is most likely the date of her mother in laws death. Margery Hindle Fisher. Margery Hindle is assumed to be a Hindle because of Thomas Fisher (her son's) Will. Margery Fisher Hindle has a problem with a neighbor who takes her cattle and her case is in court in Philadelphia and Sussex Delaware. The death of both Margery Maude and Thomas Fisher is most likely Cool Springs Lewes Delaware. Unfortunately sometime between 1850 and 1950 many family histories were written referencing Lewistown Sussex County Pennsylvania. That was in error it is Lewes in Sussex County DE today. The Martin-Fisher house was moved to the town of Lewes and is a Historical site. If I remember correctly the home was located on White Field or White Meadow (Wynnstay in Welsh) located near what is Quakertown, outside of Lewes DE today. It is pure speculation that it is possibly the house that Thomas Wynne lived in or from the property he lived on (We need more work). Cool Springs (Where the Fishers live) is noted as about 20 miles SW of Quakertown, it is the area at the head of the Cool Branch which feeds into the Nanticoke River. This location for Cool Springs is in turn about 20 Miles SE of Choptank which is the noted point of entry for the Wynne girls. It is also about 20 miles NE of the location of Dr. John Wynne's widow. For anyone interested that would mean about 4 changes of horses on a stage route they rested or changed about every 6 miles. I am sure if we concentrated we could come up with the other Quaker families en route. Another problem complicating things is that there was a John Fisher and Sarah Hutchinson in Bucks County PA and sometime in recent years that John Fisher has been blended by numerous folks into John Fisher son of John Fisher Lewes Delaware. They are clearly 2 separate individuals and that can be proven by their arrival dates. John Fisher husband of Sarah Hutchinson arrived in 1704. As we know our Wynne family was back and forth to Philadelphia from Lewes. The dispute over the line was an issue for Penn and many of his allies were in Sussex County in an effort to maintain his claim. John Fisher (father in law of Margery Maude) arrived as one of Penn's families just as the Maude's and Wynne's. Hope that gives you some explanation of why so many versions of the Fisher family are occurring. Cuz Connie Does anyone know where Margery and/or Thomas are buried? Does anyone have documentation of this Thomas Fisher's birthdate and parentage? There seems to be a lot of misinformation in many places regarding Thomas' birthdate, to whom he was married, and when/where he died. I just saw some family tree entries that had his birthdate as 1684 but marrying Margery in 1693. I know they married younger back then, but at age 9?! Many more also had his parents as John Fisher and Margaret Hindle, his second (or only) marriage to Elizabeth Huntley in 1713 and his death as 1747. There was apparently a Thomas Fisher who married a woman named Elizabeth and died in 1747 in Chester County - I've read the transcription of the will. I've also read Becky's info on Thomas Fisher's will in 1713. Why do so many people think the same man was married to both women? Any thoughts?? 2. JoAnn I got a delay and here is what I have very briefly. Thomas Fisher is noted in his father's will in Lewes Delaware. Joshua Fisher is his son and he did chart the Delaware Bay. I think the Chester county family was just blended in there recently if I remember correctly they are descendants of siblings of Thomas. The book I reference is a collection of Court records. Heritage Books published reprint of the 1909 book in 1989 ISBN 1-55613-249-2 saves time and directs you to the actual court records. Descendants of John Fisher Generation No. 1 1. 2. Jo Ann I promise I will send info. I am off to work now. Without looking I think you are missing a generation. If I also remember correctly they are in Lewes Delaware. The House was definitely in that area. The grandson Joshua (I think is the first person to chart the Bay.) Cuz Connie In a message dated 1/13/2006 7:03:44 A.M. 3. Joyce, Thanks for the info - I have a Nancy Wynn m. Wm. James in Warren Cty IN on Feb. 11, 1845. I think they had two children. Wm died (no date) and I know that Nancy was a housekeeper for a Bickell or Bicknell family - this family seemed to have traveled with the Wynns to So. MN - they were also in Cass Cty. IN. At first I thought that the daughter married our Andrew Wayt, but the last item indicates that she did not-in 1782 she lived in Bedford County, a widow of Mr. Owen. The coincidence of the August 20 guardianship/wedding makes it seem more likely that Andrew Wayt married the widow. The wedding day of Andrew Wayt and Mary James was the very same day that Widow James was relieved of the responsibility of rearing 14 year-old Enoch. This scenario, however poses other problems or questions. - If Widow James had a 15 year-old daughter, she must have been at least age 30 in 1765-too old to be producing children in the 1790's, when Andrew's youngest children were born (John Wayt was born in 1792; Martha and James are believed to be even younger.) - It is possible that Widow James was the step-mother of the James children and was therefore younger than 30 years of age; however, she couldn't have been much younger; she had been a widow for ten years by 1765. - If Andrew Wayt married a widow whose married name was James, we need to do some research to find her maiden name. - Maybe this is the wrong James family-although the coincidence of the dates and townships is hard to overlook. - Perhaps Mary James Wayt died and Andrew Wayt married another woman named Mary (who was younger) in western Pennsylvania. Between Andrew's marriage in 1765 and about 1774, there seem to be no births. Then suddenly after about 1775, ten children come in fairly rapid succession.
