    2. Joan Bretz
    3. Hi John. When tax season is over I hope to get back to organizing several supplemental DAR lines, including Aquilla Randall. I do have some things for him but I need to get into my files and sort through the papers. I also am planning a trip to Annapolis and Baltimore to do some more looking - when I was there before I didn't know so much about these folks. and that trip might have to wait til after we get back from Wales. I also have blurbs from several books about the Brown and Randall families. I ahve Joseph Hobbs who married Ann Chew Randall (daughter of Aquilla and Margaret). Joseph's father was also in the Revolutionary War. So I am working on both these lines. I can send you some information that has suggestions about what kinds of documents would be acceptable to the DAR. Basically you want to show birth, death and marriage records as well as the ties between generations - so not just that someone lived and died but that there is a proven connections between father and son, etc. Census records, Bible records (if you have the title page), church records, birth/death certificates, and so forth are good. Published family histories would be acceptable if they show good research - including references to wills, burials, etc., not just listing names and dates. As I said, give me some time as we are still pretty busy - I am just starting to sort out my own tax stuff. And I am not sure where your address might be, so it would be helpful if you could send it to me. 3. Hi all, My mom has decided to go through the (arduous?, ponderous?) process of joining the DAR! One needs to PROVE descent from a Patriot. I'm not sure how formal the proof must be but I think the are quite strict! Any assistance would be most appreciated: Acquilla Randall, Sr. is certified as a Patriot. / //(Both he & his wife, Margaret Brown are Wynne descendants. They were first cousins! William Chew, Sr. and Sydney Wynne were grandparents to them both)/ Therefore his female descendants qualify for DAR membership. This is what I know: Acquilla's daughter, Ruth Randall married Michael Cramblitt in Ann Arundel County on Oct 14, 1786. Their son, Thomas Cramblitt married Mary Ann McMechen in Baltimore County on Jun 23, 1815. Their son, Thomas A. Cramblitt married Catherine Sisco in Baltimore on Sep 12, 1838. Their son, Mayfield Cramblitt (my mother's grandfather) was born in Baltimore on Apr 08, 1856. I don't have source documents for any of the above. My source is a self-published book by Father Rick Cramblitt of the Baltimore Archdioceses who has done this research and provides references to these events. Birth records seem to be sketchy on everyone. I do have Mayfield's death cert. listing Thomas Cramblitt and Katherine "Cisco" as his parents. I can connect from there forward to the present. Have any of you ever gotten DAR recognition for any of the above relationships? Does anyone have any copies of any of these vital records? They seem to come primarily from the Maryland Historical Society or the Maryland Hall of Records. Neither my mom nor I have the ability to get to these places to do firsthand research. The DAR charges $150 (at least) for the assistance of a researcher. Anything we can do to make their job easier would be helpful. Any guidance would be most appreciated. Thank you very much. 2. The Thill Group Inc
    3. Dear Princess Joan II, and Cuz's, The Ashgrove Apartments, are sitting on the Caerwys town square so it would be central to everything... sort of the hub place to gather as we do things. Dewie, owner of the Ashgrove Apartments is the gentleman who helped me contact Mayor Phillip Parry the very first time. I e-mailed the apartments [only e-mail I could find for someone in the town] and asked if he could contact the Mayor and tell him I needed to reach him about Dr. Thomas Wynne, because Gary Boyd Roberts was trying to remove the connection to Caerwys, Wales. Dewie was kind enough to pass on my message and that is when I received my first phone call from Mayor Phillip. I am very grateful for his help. I would however like to explain something ... Ashgrove Apartments is a timeshare apartment type of place. The owner Dewi [pronounced Dow-ie] rents them out for weeks or months at a time, especially for the summer. You will find him hesitant to rent for just four or five days because if he gets a reservation for the whole summer, which is usual for his place, and your in his apartment, he will have to let those proceeds for the whole summer go, because he has booked you in for those couple of days. I only tell you this to explain why he may be hesitant to confirm reservations until closer to the date. Also if you book at the Ashgrove Apartments and a Welsh home becomes available it would be rude to cancel the Ashgrove for a Welsh home... so please consider this when you are booking. Mayor Phillip has a area newspaper going out March 1st, announcing we are coming and asking the locals for help in lodging us in Welsh homes. He feels there will be rooms available in the local homes once this is published. Mayor Phillip is also working on hotels in the area, trying to place all who need in one place so that we are not spread out all over the place.... Mind you Mayor Phillip is doing all this around his daily job, and his Mayor obligations. Just a heads up to everyone. 2. The British news that is being highlighted today on the news networks is about proposed non-smoking laws. This brought to mind some unpleasant memories, and I feel that I should pass it along to those of you going on the Wales trip. There are only limited non-smoking laws and accomodations in Britain. It is very easy to have a good dinner ruined by second hand smoke, if you don't realize this and ask for help from the receptionist when you enter. If you go anywhere by train (and they have an excellent train system!) there are designated "non-smoking" cars. The problem is that these are taken up very quickly, and if you have to go to the smokers, the smoke in them is overwhelming for non-smokers. If you buy reserved seat tickets, make sure they are non-smoking. If you are on "general admission", get there on time to be the first in line. I rode from York to Heathrow on Halloween night on a smoker, and four or five hours after detraining in London, I entered my hotel room at the airport, and I thought that the desk had made a mistake and had put me in a Smoker's room... I found out that the room was OK....the smell was me!!! My hair, and layers of clothing were permeated with smoke. Cuz Gary
