The Cedar Rapids Gazette (Cedar Rapids, IA); pg 4B Sunday, March 19, 2006 Obituary: Kathryn Agnes (Winn) Sherman, 62, of 2753 North center Point Rd., died Saturday, March 18, 2006, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Services: 11 a. m. Tuesday, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m., and from 10 a.m.until service time Tuesday at the church. The Rev. Neal Manternach will officiate. Surviving to honor her memory are her husband, Dr. Thomas Sherman; a son, Dr. Christopher Sherman (Dr. Mary) of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mary Kay (Joel Kendall) of Davenport; grandchildren Erin and Abigail Sherman of Cedar Rapids and Timothy, Alex and Rachel Kendall of Davenport; three brothers, Norman Winn and wife Marie and Burton Winn and wife Delores, all of Walker, and Marcellus Winn and wife Kay of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Jeannine Dvorak of Walker, Ellen Fox and husband Robert of Chandler, Ariz., and Marjorie Henderson and husband Leonard of Cedar Rapids; her mother-in-law, Mary Sherman of Walker; a brother-in-law, Charles Sherman and wife Sally of Walker; a sister-in-law, Judy Wall and husband Gerald of Center Point; and many nieces and nephews. Kathryn was born Feb. 20, 1944, in Walker. She married Thomas Ray Sherman on July 31, 1963, at Sacred Heart Parish in Walker. Kathryn worked as a homemaker, raising her children as well as a bookkeeper in her husband's chiropractic office. Kathryn loved to travel and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. She had many people that counted on her as their best friend and she will be missed by all. She loved her family and friends especially enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to Catholic Charities Adoption Services.
