Joan thinks like me! I picked out dessert at the Cherry Pie Inn too, and have also been wondering about money. But being unemployed for 10 months makes a person think about money alot. :) What do you think would be a good amount to withdrawl when we get to Manchester? Well, I have been perusing the itinerary some more. I plan to have a Crème de Menthe Bombe for dessert at the Cherry Pie Inn! Some time later, having perused much more of the itinerary, I have another question. Can we get into the church where Dr Thomas and his family was baptized at 7 pm and how can we see anything in the cemetery at that hour - presumably, like it is here, it will be rather darkish? The itinerary itself is beginning to grow on me. We will be seeing quite a number of historical places in Wales, and not just those directly related to the Wynne family. And I would suggest that those going to Wales, if they haven't done so already, check out the links given with the itinerary. Among other things, you will find pictures of Mayor Philip, our host. Thanks for explaining about Bron Fadoc and the gaol - that's all I needed. Also a question, which may already have been discussed. Do we need to budget for the entrance fees at gaols, castles, botanical gardens, etc.? And if so, what would be an overall rough estimate of that amount? Back to the drawing board I guess for clothing to wear - the receptions all seem to be connected to our daytime activities so would be less formal than I had originally thought. Wow, only three more weeks. Maybe enough time to recover from the last days of the tax season and the long hourse necessary to close down the office. See some of you soon. JoanII
Dear Cuz's, Just to set the record straight. Joan is not the only one that asked about the time at the Bron Fadoc. Her's happens to be the only one that went to the group the others came to me personally. So I don't want Joan to think I was slamming at her. I am not. Mayor Phillip and I and several others in Wales have been sending a GAZILLION e-mails back an forth trying to make you guys the Best Trip possible. I have gone out of my way trying to get responses from you guys on issues I feel you will have a problem with. I have called several of you to ask your opinion or if you had a problem with certain things to the point that I am sure Alice Neff will probably not answer my next phone call. [Just want to be sure your group is handled, Alice truly!!] At this point, I wish we could all just be happy with the trip. I am working on the length of times at the cemetery's. I believe that Mayor Phillip has already scoped out the area's where there will be graves from our time frame, if any at all. but I am working on that.... As far as the Bron Fadoc, sorry guys but I can't see where we would be spending more time than that other than to just stand around looking at the building and dreaming about his time... and if we need to do that..then we push back the Ruthin Prison or Cancel it even though that is the only way I am going to get to see it. and take less of a break before dinner etc. I need to know what you guys want. Cuz Becky ttg-inc@comcast.net http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ttg13/ "Life may not be the party we hoped for... but while we are here we might as well dance !"
Dear Cuz's, Let me tell you some facts. 1. The home is lived in. 2. It is their son's [I think it is a boy] birthday and they had planed a family weekend birthday party gathering... They have post poned that to Sunday only because of us. They are not only letting us walk around their property, but they are inviting us inside the large living area where Dr. Thomas Wynne gave his illegal Quaker services. They are giving us tea and cakes. Ok so now you know the surprise... 3. They are hosting two people from WGS in their home for the weekend. There is nothing to see except for the structure of the two buildings that apply to Dr. Thomas Wynne's time. It will take us less than 5 minutes to look at the one they are planning to make into a bed and breakfast time share deal which is the Dower House. It is to become a weekly summer rental, on the Bed and Breakfast type plan. Not the main house. I don't see that it would take much longer than that... But I am sure if we need it.. we can push the Ruthin Common Goal back a little bit at that time... But................ You guys don't want to go to the Ruthin Common Goal where Dr. Thomas Wynne was imprisoned.. no problem I can cancel that , any thing else you want me to cancel while we are at it. There is much more to be seen at the goal (jail) than at the site of Thomas Wynne's home. The two hours represents a minimum recommended time for a tour of the goal which is a popular tourist site which is deemed to be historically significant. Its inclusion in our tour itenarary is, of course, based on Thomas Wynne's having been imprisoned there. An effort has been made to preserve (restore) the prison to the state it was when it housed Thomas Wynne and others who shared his misfortune. If nothing else, we can gain a better understanding of what Thomas Wynne endured. The home site, on the other hand, is the private residence of a family that hopes to be able to convert it into a bed and breakfast at some point. in the near future. While it will prove interesting to see where Thomas Wynne lived, nothing remains apart from the house. There are no original furnishings that belonged to Thomas Wynne and his family and nothing that can not be seen within the 30 minutes allotted us, not that we all might want to have more time at each stop on the itenarary. Thirty minutes at the cemetery at Bodfari is likely to prove more difficult, hardly enough to hope to find a specific tombstone, assuming such should exist that could be read. All and all, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to see what we can. Hugs, Cousin Linda
Today's comment from starting to review the itinerary. We are supposed to spend 30 minutes at Thomas Wynne's home and 2 hours at a jail? JoanII
Hey Cuz's, I found a geneology site I didn't know about. I found someone there with some of my Humphreys tree. They support the original info I got from a relative, with there only being one James. Maybe he really did have his son Thomas when he was 48, and he died at 94. Just seems kind of old for back then. http://www.gencircles.com/users/bumgarners/5/data/1759 On 3/17/06, Amy Humphries <amyhumphries@gmail.com> wrote: > > > > This is the tree, I'm working with now: > Amy Humphries (1973-) > Thomas Humphries (1950-) & Maria Collazzo (1951-) > Gerald Humphries (1920-1978) & Winnifred Keller (1922-) > Charles Raymond Humphries (1879-1963) & Margaret Kelly (1882-?) > Jacob Humphries (1847-?) & Anna Burr Clothier (1850-?) > Daniel Humphries (1802-1884) & Eliza Weikel (1810-1856) > Thomas Humphreys (1779-1820) & Elizabeth Erwin/Rush (1782-1870) > *James Humphreys Jr (1757-1825) & Mary Ann Gilyard (?-?) > *James Humphreys Sr (1731-?) & Ann Powell Moore (?-?) > Thomas Humphreys (1697-1771) & Unknown (?-?) > Daniel Humphrey (1660-1735) & Hannah Wynne (1664-1750) > daughter of Dr. Thomas > Wynne & Martha Buttall > > > > * As mentioned in my other email today, I'm going to do some more research > on James. > >

Dear Cuz's, Just so you know..but is not on the itinerary... 1. Mayor Phillip is really trying to get everyone that will usually be riding the bus to go to Hawarden with us even if you are not going to the Archives. There will be shopping, coffee shops etc there. That way we go in mass to the reception in mold. So give this thought when you are making your decision on what to do about Hawarden. 2. There will be shopping along the way at places we will be, especially on Sunday. 3. There is no fast food for our lunches, in fact there is very little fast food places... but we will be eating lunches at the venders at the places we will be at. So for lunch do not expect a leisurely sit down as a group restaurant.. we will be doing that in the evening. 4. Every place we go will have either places to sit on benches or you can stay in the bus if your not up to/interested in the event we are visiting. 5. You will need Transformer and plugs for your American 110 products [i.e. curling irons, blow dryers, phone chargers, camera chargers etc, laptops, etc.] 6. The Pubs that we are visiting is where everyone socializes. That is where the Locals will get to visit us on a one to one. I would hope everyone would at least try to attend for at least a few minutes the first night of the pubs. You can then leave and go to your accommodations. They are all in the town of Caerwys so they are walkable. 7. Clothes for functions, I am bringing two pant suits, and several shells to change the look of them. save on outfits. 8. At the Caerwys Reception/Concert, they want me to give a speech. I will be asking your "child of" groups to stand up for the crowd, be prepared. 9. There will be a member of the London Parliament and commons, and members of the Assembly at the Caerwys Reception/Concert. 10. Our Itinerary is being distributed to the media and newspapers, because they want to follow us around and take pictures of us visiting Wales. Are we excited yet????? Just when are we going to have time to wander around the town and elsewhere and do some shopping and take it easy. Plus I am not particularly interested in spending time in a pub - probably a lot of smoke and I am allergic to smoke. If we chose to opt out of some of these things, how would we get to the next stop? My chief concern is that here is really no time to just sit and relax a bit - other than when we are supposed to be sleeping. Wow, Becky, are you home from Cancun or are you working on your vacation. I assume I am hitching a ride with Cada Grove since we are staying at the same place. I can be flexible, do what she does, go to the town with the archives and look around there, or stay in Caerwys. I guess if given a choice, go to the town and hang out there instead of staying in Caerwys would be my first choice. Cuz Janet II. "The Thill Group, Inc." <ttg-inc@comcast.net> wrote: Dear Cuz's, Trying to work the kinks out of the itinerary [which is fantastic by the way!!! you will see later today]. I need the following people to RESPOND NOW!!!! Susan Wright, Ida Cann, Joyce/Bob, Sharon Underhill, Dick McGehee, Janet Beard, Mary Alice Shaw, Cada Grove, Alice Neff for [Debbie/Brian Hunter, Mr. & Mrs Jones, Janet Hurzeler, Susan Frampton]. Problem: I need to know what the people NOT going to the Archives are going to be doing. We are working on the issue of the Bus being at the Archives, and having to get the people to Mold for the reception, and Mayor Phillip is trying to work out transportation issues. Why: Two of the people are in Host family homes [Susan Wright, Ida Cann]. The host families [all of them not just these two] work during the week so after breakfast they expect the WGS members to be gone touring. So their homes are not unattended when they are at work. I think that is reasonable. The rest of the members who are not going to the Archives are staying at the Ashgrove apartments or the Plas Penucha. Mayor Phillip has suggested that all the members not going to the Archives to go with us to Hawarden, but go visit the town or hang out in one of the cafe's etc. until we get done and then we can leave directly for the reception in Mold, not having to deal with going back to Caerwys to pick people up. [time factor]. I told him that I was afraid that some wanted to just chill out in Caerwys while they had the chance. He said "then the local Woman's Institute and an other committee have offered to host anyone who does not want to attend the Archives - they will take them to a local craft centre". He was not getting the fact that we could be unattended in Caerwys I guess, and needed to be entertained, so comes the questions. Questions: 1. Do Joyce/Bob, Joan II, Merle and Linda & Sharon [two different apartments at Ashgrove, have a problem with the other members crashing at your apartments while we others go to the Archives? Which brings us down to, "What do you guys want to do that are not going to the Archives.", I need an honest Answer. 2. How many want to go to the "Local craft Centre" shopping with the Women's Institute ladies and the other committee? 3. How many want to do their own thing and just hang out in Caerwys, at the Ashgrove Apartments [if the Ashgrove Apartment members agree].. knowing that most things are closed during the day, no restaurants are open till lunch. This is a very little town, less than 6 streets I believe. 4. Alice Neff, Will your group be joining us in Mold, or are they going to come to Caerwys before the reception? Ok here is the breakdown of everyone..... People NOT going to Archives who need transportation: 8 people with out cars 6 in Jones's car 1 in Cada Grove's car = 15. See names below for who is and isn't going to archives: NOT GOING 1 Susan Wright - not going [with a host family, George and Carol Gallagher] 2 Ida Cann- not going [with a host family, Gaynor & Steve Griffith] 3 & 4 Joyce & Bob Quigley- not going [Ashgrove Apt.] 5 Sharon Underhill - not going [Ashgrove Apt.] 6 Dick McGehee - not going [Ashgrove Apt.] 7 Janet Beard - not going [Plas Penucha] 8 Mary Alice Shaw- not going [Plas Penucha] 9 Cada Grove - not going [Plas Penucha] 10 & 11 Debbie & Brian Hunter - not going [will meet us in Caerwys or at Mold.. your choice, she is transported by the Jones's who she and her mom Alice Neff is staying with] 12 & 13 Mr. & Mrs. Jones - not going [see Debbie Hunter] 14 & 15 Janet Hurzeler, Susan Frampton - not going [see Debbie Hunter] GOING People Going to Archives then to Mold Reception on Bus: 10 1. Amy Humphries - go 2. Betty McGehee - go if possible 3. Joan II B. - go 4. Merle M. - go 5. Joyce Gail - go if possible 6. Vi -go 7. Becky - go 8. Alice Neff - go 9. Susan Grove - go 10. Linda Shabo - go Once we get to Mold the WGS members will divide up into appropriate transportation to get back to Caerwys then to Dinner and Concert, Which is 16 in Bus, 7 in Jones's Van, 2 in Grove car.
