    3. Dear Cuz Janet, I just got a phone call from the current owner of the 2nd property at the Wynnestay, and he has the complete deed of the property that Sarah Sharp Wynne lived in. He said the address of the property is 2406 N. 52nd street, and the entrance originally was on 54th but now on 52nd. He is mailing me a copy of the deed and I also asked him for a current picture... I would love to compare it with the pictures you have and the history you have of the family. Will talk more about it after Cancun on my return on the 29th. Hugs Cuz Becky ttg-inc@comcast.net http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ttg13/ "Life may not be the party we hoped for... but while we are here we might as well dance !"

    3. Hi guys. I got an idea earlier today and thought I would share it with you. I think I will get a book on the Amish in PA as a gift to the school library. And it occurred to me that some of you might be able to find books appropriate to the primary level that would describe something unique to the area where you live or the history of the Welsh in your area of the country or something like that - Texas Alamo, mining in MN, and like that. Just a thought. JoanII

    2. The Thill Group, Inc.
    3. CONCERT TICKETS Got a confirmation from Mayor Phillip for the 9 tickets we are buying for the Concert... and the cost for the fuel for the bus. The Concert tickets are $8.91 USD or £5.00 each x 9 = £45.00 [$80.1811 USDollars] £45.00 [$80.1811 USDollars] divided by 25 attending = £1.80 [$3.207244 USDollars] each person So I will need £1.80 from each of the 25 WGS members when we get to Wales. [to give to Mayor Phillip] BUS COST Mayor Phillip says to plan on $40.00 Dollars [£22.00 each] But they wont know till they make the trip from Manchester to the airport, and the first day of the trip, so they can mark gas mileage etc. He say it is probably going to be less but he doesn't want you to be short if it turns out to be $40.00 Dollars [£22.00 each]. Okie dokie... Since no one e-mailed screaming... all must be well. You only have tonight to tell me if there is a problem. 1. Wales - Changes to Itinerary
    2. The Thill Group, Inc.
    3. Dear Cuz's, I have solutions, and this is the last of the changes to the Itinerary. I leave Saturday Morning for Cancun so I will not have time to mess with this today [Friday, it is 2:07 am] I will be packing..and just jumping in "here and there" today to check messages.. but I have to get this settled before I leave Saturday, so read carefully and shout out if you have a major problem here! Churches/Cemetery's Heard back from Mayor Phillip, He says that the three cemetery's are very small, he says "Generally every x hundreds of years the stones are cleared for fresh ones." He does not believe it will take longer than 30 minutes to look at any one of the cemetery's that are there. Solution: removing the Tower Nercwys [Wynne of Tower] visit gives us more time at Ysceifiog Church. removing or shortening the time at Bodnant Gardens [80 acres of formal gardens nice restful place to see] and extend the St. Michael's Caerwys church/Cemetery time We can take flash lights to Bodfari Church. =) Bron Fadoc/ Ruthin Common Goal Mayor Phillip says "We can stay there longer [at Bron Fadoc], Mike and Fliss have no problem with that. Ruthin Goal closes at 5.00pm and the last entry time is 4.00pm. At Bron Fadoc you would only see the outside and their lounge area but Ruthin Goal you would be walking around and seeing lots of interesting historical things. Anyway, we shall stay later in Bron Fadoc and less time in Ruthin." Solution: We go to Bron Fadoc, Do what we wish then leave for Ruthin Goal, just wont have as much time there at Ruthin.. Hawarden Archives and the Non Hawarden Archives members... Everyone get on the bus and smile. Now this is the contortions that need to happen.... Read carefully.......... [yes I going to have a drink after typing this one!] Cada Grove needs to drive to Hawarden in time for our departure. =) Betty McGehee, Dick can either ride the bus or he can talk to Cada about going with him to Hawarden in time for us to leave for Mold. Dick then needs to ride the bus with us to Mold or work it out with Susan and Cada. Alice, If one of the girls that are staying at Plas Penucha will ride to Mold with Susan and Cada Grove, Or if Dick will ride with Susan and Cada Grove to Mold. Then you have a place on the bus. Susan & Cada Grove, Janet Beard [who's out of town], and Mary Alice Shaw are at the Plas Penucha, Susan and Cada Grove were going to follow the Bus with their car on our trips. Mary Alice Shaw and Janet Beard were going to ride the bus on our trips. Mary Alice and Janet will ride into Caerwys from Plas Penucha with Susan & Cada Grove to get to the bus and back to the hotel. Susan Grove will be in the car with her hubby from Hawarden to Mold, unless she switches with Dick McGehee. OR Does Bob Quigley/Dick McGehee and Cada Grove want to ride behind the bus as the male car and the Girls ride the bus? If the Guys wont ride together can Mary Alice Shaw ride to Mold from Hawarden with your hubby and Who ever? If the Guys wont ride together, Mary Alice do you mind riding with Susan/or who ever and Cada to Mold... And in that way Mr/Mrs Jones, Janet Hurzeler, Susan Frampton & Debbie and Brian Hunter don't have to come back to Hawarden to get Alice Neff, and she could then ride the bus. Ok is that clear??? My Solution, Cada Grove, Dick McGehee, & Bob Quigley ride in the car to Hawarden at the time of departure for Mold. Or They can go straight to mold as they don't have to pick anyone up! The rest of us ride the bus. Done You tell me. Hugs Becky ttg-inc@comcast.net http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ttg13/ "Life may not be the party we hoped for... but while we are here we might as well dance !"

Just planning on being there & a part of the group, seeing what I can, doing what I can, & being glad I could finally make it to Wales. 1. Re: [WGS] Ruthin Common Goal
    2. The Thill Group, Inc.
    3. Dear Cuz's, I have placed an e-mail to the Ruthin Common Goal asking if there is any part that still exists that would have been there when Dr. Thomas Wynne was imprisoned. I will await the response from them. Here is the source: "From Ysgeifiog to Pennsylvania; The Rise of Thomas Wynne, Quaker Barber-Surgeon" By Professor Geraint H. Jenkins, BA, PhD, DLitt, FBA, Director of the Centre, University of Wales Centre for Advanced Welsh & Celtic Studies. "Thomas Wynne was one of those, according to the testimony of John Humphreys, who chose 'to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season'.23 He seems to have involved himself in the first place with Denbighshire Quakers in his wife's home-town. Wrexham had earned itself a reputation among royalists as 'the most factious town in Wales'.24 There, vigorous Quaker proselytes like the draper, Brian Sixsmith, were declaring the Word of the Lord openly and distributing what Denbighshire magistrates judged to be 'seditious and offensive books'.25 On 1 December 1661, Thomas Wynne, Brian Sixsmith, Nathaniel Buttall (Wynne's brother-in-law), William Lewis, a corvisor, John ap Edward, a butcher, and several others were dragged from their meeting-house by soldiers and charged with unlawful assembly. They were taken with a mittimus from constable to constable and were eventually thrust into the common gaol at Ruthin.26 Wynne may have remained there for six years.27 If so, it was a singularly uncomfortable and distressing experience. Prisons were damp, ill-ventilated and insanitary places. Captives were forced to spend night and day in filth and excrement. In 1661, some Merionethshire Quakers were locked away in 'a nasty close Hole' normally used to keep hogs.28 The stench was often so overpowering that prisoners lost their appetite for the meagre rations which were offered to them. Some Friends died in prison. Others recovered their freedom but were never the same again. But many, too, lived to fight another day, knowing, as Richard Davies declared, that the Lord had promised to be with His people 'in all their troubles and exercises'.29 During Wynne's imprisonment, Quakers began recruiting followers in Flintshire. During his famous tour of Wales in 1657, George Fox had' sounded ye day of ye Lord' through the towns of Flintshire,30 and, in a letter to Fox on 11 June 1663, Thomas Holme mentioned having held a meeting in the county during his journeys in North Wales.31 In 1665, John Baddely, John Newton and twelve other Quakers were thrust into the county gaol at Ruthin 'for meeting to worship God and for not swearing'.32 By the 1670s, however, the twin cornerstones of the Quaker movement in Flintshire were Thomas Wynne's home at Bron Fadog and Richard ap Thomas's home in the parish of Whitford. These two Quaker gentlemen took on the responsibility of building up membership, organizing meetings and burial places 'for ye people of God'.33 " Please note he was not in there for 6 years because he had two kids in Caerwys during that time. 3. County archives (Ruthin) are recent records like this century mostly and pertain to Denbighshire. Thomas Wynne's Flintshire had different boundaries and at one point they were reorgnized as part of Clywd. Current is Flintshire, but not for Ruthin in Denbighshire. Hugs, Linda

The goal was not built until long after Thomas Wynne died (1692 versus 1775). Copied info. is from last link. Maybe we should consider substituting, if possible, the castle which is associated with our direct ancestor .Edward Langford, Constable of Ruthin Castle (source of our line which goes back to Charlemagne); he died in 1466. Paying for a banquet in the castle would be a bit pricey, but we should be able to maybe see the castle? What do you think? Becky, you are super and doing a super job. Hugs, Linda

    1. Re: [WGS] WALES - Itinerary!!!
    2. Alice Neff
    3. Dear Becky, Thank you. That is a great itinerary. Marlene, Debbie and Janet, etc, The link to the itinerary is below. I am writing this as though I know what our group "family" is doing, and ccing the others so they can let me know what their feelings are. The biggest questions are whether Marlene and Mervyn can attend the things during the day Thursday and Friday when they may be at work. And whether we will arrive from London by car by 1:40 on Thursday. So, my ideas are: Our group will try to meet you in Bron Fadoc, Thursday at 1:40 We will follow you to Ruthin Goal, Denbigh Castle, and then join you for dinner at the Cherry Pie Inn. I will get a ride and meet you Friday morning at the Archives in Hawarden. The rest of the group will find something else to do Friday morning. I would like to ride on the bus to Mold, if I may. The rest of the group will join us in Mold at 1:00 p.m. for the reception. We will follow the bus to the "Wynne of Tower" and to Ysceifiog We will meet you for dinner at the Mezzaluna and go to the concert. Saturday we will meet you and follow the bus to the church and gardens and castle. We will meet you for dinner at the Pwllgwyn Hotel. Here we will say "Goodbye". We are so grateful to be able to spend this time with you and be included in this great adventure. You will never know the thrill it is to have found you. I hope to see you all at the next reunion. Sunday we will break away, but the things you have planned sound great. What a treat. 3. Dear Cousins, For me, I don't see any room, for any one that is going to Wales, to complain about anything on the itinerary. Becky was the one invited over to Wales in the first place a couple of years back. She has bent over backwards for us to go with her as our WGS group. I know her and Mayor Phillip have worked very hard on making this trip a trip of a lifetime for us. There are some of us getting to go that this is a TRIP OF A LIFETIME, so no matter how long of time we are at a certain place or where we go, we should enjoy every minute of it. I know I will. I thank Becky for including us. I appreciate her hard work and making this possible for all of us. Love Joyce Gail -----Original Message----- From: The Thill Group, Inc.
