    3. Thanks so much Becky. However, I am confused by this legalese. I assume this was given to her because her niece Hannah Wynn Compton Davis possessed the property when she died. This was the story you were telling me about the second house because her Mom still had children to raise? 3. Dear Cuz Becky: I am so excited you now have these in your possession. I reread Hannah's will and her petitions and she was in possession of this house and the summer home in Pine Beach when she died in 1922. My mother remembers visiting this and so I would assume that it was in the family longer as my mother was born in 1916. I am intrigued. As an aside, what type of coat are you planning to bring to Wales? I can't decide. Thanks for Candace's email. We have corresponded on a regular basis. 2. One thing I found out about on my just completed trip to the Gr. Canyon is that the "acceptable" dimensions for carry-on luggage will not fit in the overhead bins on the smaller aircraft -- Like those roller pull arounds that are about 12 X 12 X 20. They would fit on the larger aircraft, but not on the American Eagle. The last time I was in Britain, the smaller craft were common in moving from a large airport to the countryside. Here on American, the gate agent stopped you and they tagged the item and put it in cargo. So.. if you have things like medicines and money that you want secure and not succeptable to late or lost luggage syndrom, better pack it in your second, smaller carry-on that you are allowed. 3. Dear Cuz Gary, That is true... lucky for us we are not going to be on the smaller planes. Mayor Phillip is picking us up in Manchester, from the plane we fly over on. Now I don't know about the planes from their homes to Philly, but from Philly on we are on the large planes. Bt it is something everyone needs to think about when packing. 3. More tips.... 1. I never lock my suitcase because they just open them any way. 2. I never put my "good" jewelry in my suitcase, I wear it or carry it with me... sis-in-law had hers all stolen at the airport out of her suitcase while it was handled in Mexico. 3. I never put my meds in my suitcase I carry it with me, that way it can't be stolen, and if suitcase comes up missing or lost, I will have my meds with me. 4. I put all loose things in ziplock bags. I put like things together in those bags... i.e. lotions with shampoo's they make the same icky mess, aerosols with aerosols etc etc. This way if the pressure expresses them they don't mess up my clothes...but also it makes it easier for the baggage checkers and they don't mess your suitcase up as much if they have to open and check it. 5. I put plastic cleaning bags and or trash bags between layers of clothes and that little bit of plastic saves some wrinkles. 6. I put heaviest things [shoes, Ziploc's etc, at the opposite end of the suitcase from the top handle. that way when you pull up the handle and pull it the heavy things are already at that end and gravity doesn't mess up your clothes by those things trying to get to ground level. 7. Never put all your money or credit cards in one place. 8. Check you flight itinerary the night before and see what gates your going to, this will save you time if you find out that they changed your flight time and didn't tell you. I also check it again before I leave the house to make sure it hasn't changed. 9. Give your self 2 hours before flight time to be at the airport... in Mexico they asked us to be 3 hours early and we needed it, they were that crazy. 10. Reconfirm your plans for people picking you up from the airport on your return. 11. Make sure you have your itinerary & passports in a convenient place before you leave the house. 3. And don't forget -- 1. If you are taking cameras, computers, other fancy priced items out of the country, you might go to your local customs office and register them so that you are not charged duty on those items when you come back into the USofA. 2. You can lock your check-on baggage if you have an approved lock. These are locks which you lock to keep unwanted parties from rifling your possessions, but they can be unlocked by keys the Security people have if they consider it necessary. Look for a "TSA" designation on the lock. AAA has them for one. Got my hair done today. Need to do a bunch of laundry. Then it's toss the clothes in the suitcase and we are off. The weather site seems to indicate about high 50's for the time we are there - that in between spring temperature where we don't know if we need spring or winter togs. And if you do not subscribe to the Wynne name list, a Wynne married a Parry in the 1800s - so we might even be related through distant cousinship to Mayor Philip. See (some of) you soon. JoanII
