    3. Hi, That is what I thought, I have been to Tent Cemetery and that is what confused me. I really couldn't read the date that, that Hannah was born. But it did say wife of John Mcknight and died May 26, 1875. The old LDS records show "George" and I can not find nothing with Hannah and George. My grandmother always told me that her great grandmother's name was Hannah and gr. Grandpa was John. The census 1870 show Hannah, John, Henry J, Rachel, William George B and Margaret. Than who did Hannah born 1801 marry? I have John and Hannah son William Obt died 8/27/1941. Which does not list parents, just a daughter Anna Shiffbauer, Hopwood which he lived with. 2 other daughters Sarah Cain, Hopwood, Jennie Whitstone, Akron, Oh and a son George of Pittsburgh. But also 2 brothers George, and John and 3 half sisters, Mary, Sarah and Nancy. This tells me John remarried and I think it was to a woman named Missouri. It shows it is the Census. But no information on her. Oh I hope I am doing this right. McKnight and they had a son named William McKnight b.c. 1862. I know that the old LDS records show "George" but I believe that is wrong! Hannah McKnight wife of John M. McKnight was the only Hannah McKnight I could find anywhere. Then I found in "Records From The Past, Volume II: Funeral Home Records, Fairchance, Fayette Co., PA" p. 160 the 1944 funeral home record for John M. McKnight, Jr. listing his parents as John M. McKnight and Hannah HUGHES. Finally, the gravestone for Hannah McKnight is in Tent Church Presby. near that of Catherine Hughs, Issac O. Hughs, Daniel A. Hughes , and Isaac Hughes. d. 1893. Hannah's stone says that she was the wife of John and dau. Maggie H. d. 3/22/1877 is next to her. This child Margaret is in the 1870 Census with the family of John and Hannah. 2. Dear Cuz Gary, I have everyone's revision, but I have nothing with them, as I have only this last month been physically able to get my mind around genealogy again. For that I apologize, BUT... in the very near future I will be getting caught up on everything and getting things worked up. Thanks for being patient. I will also ask Christine to do a down and dirty. Christine is on this e-mail list so you can ask her directly any questions. 1. Re: [WGS] Hannah Hugh Family
    2. Dear Cousin Gary et. al. As you mentioned the "Fairchance Wynne" branch: Jim Abraham lives there or did last I had contact with him perhaps 15 plus years ago. My mother, Evelyn Abraham Benson always referred to him as "Fairchance Jim." He was very interested in genealogy and contacted my mother in an effort to find out the name of his (great grandmother or grand or gr gr???) Becky has all of the records which were copied from my mother's files when she was in PA last year or was it 2 years ago? Time flies!) The mother of the illegitimate descendant of William Abraham, who was banished to California and drowned off the coast when the boat caught fire, was never, ever divulged to anyone or recorded. He was the twin of my great grandfather Enoch. My mother and Dee Abraham Sloughy of Smithfield never knew the name of the mother of William's son nor could they find the information anywhere. The Abraham grandparents raised the child. According to my mother it was the custom at that time for the father's parents to raise an illegitimate child. Jim Abraham used to organize a "Cousins Reunion" in Fayette County. I don't know whether he still does that. The Fairchance Abrahams referred to themselves as the "Poor Abrahams" as all of Enoch's children were quite accomplished and successful. Seventeen or eighteen years ago I attended one of the cousin's reunions. In fact, I believe my son Brett and I attended two of the events. It was lovely to be surrounded by masses of nice relatives. I checked the White Pages and there were 19 James or Jim Abrahams in southwestern PA This is the one that strikes me as most likely to be "Fairchance Jim" as Smithfield is a stones throw from Fairchance. I don't recall "Fairchance Jim's" middle initial. _James H Abraham_ (http://www.whitepages.com/search/Replay?lower=9&more_info=1&search_id=10191341264137249318&search_type=findperson&site_id=10583) 1. 358 Clark Rd 2. Christine, your Hannah Hugh b.c. 1840 was indeed a dau. of Hiram Hugh b. 1810 and Rachel Huey. Hiram was a son of Isaac Hugh b. 1771 and Mary Ann Todd who also had a dau. named Hannah b. 1801 (I also descend from this Isaac Hugh and Mary Ann Todd. ) Glad to learn that you are a Hugh-Wynne cousin. I have a death date for your Hannah b. c. 1840 as 26 May 1875, in Dunbar, Fayette, PA. That is from "Some Fayette County Pennsylvania Cemeteries " p. 124, as she is recorded in that cem. list book as having been buried in Tent Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Georges, Fayette, PA. I appreciate having the death date for your William who died in 1941. Would love to learn more about his family as I know nothing further about him. I have his brother Henry James McKnight marrying a Martha Nutt and brother John McKnight marrying Emma V. Dugan and I do have some members of their families and am certainly willing to share that information. Very best regards, Cuzin Jane

    3. Way to go Joan. It feels great when you find something more to connect the lines together. I just found more connections on my mothers side and my husbands side that connect several lines for me. Just trolling around the internet and found a book on Google that was on my list of resources to review and that I was able to download in its entirety from Google books - Sidelights of Maryland History. When I checked out the Randall pages I discovered an abstract of the will of Nathan Randall, son of Aquilla and brother of Ann (Nancy) Chew Randall. I had never found anything that absolutely tied her to the Randall/Brown/Chew/Wynne crowed. Nathan apparently had no children and his will left his estate to be sold and the proceeds equally divided between the heirs of Ichbod Davis (connected to Ruth Davis, Nathan's wife) and "OF MY SISTER, WIFE OF JOSEPH HOBBS". 3. This won't answer your question, but one hint that I have found for better scans: When I am scanning the rounded side of an open page of a book, I get better scans if I tell my scanner (Epson X 6170) that I am scanning a "Color Photo" rather than "Black and White Text". What I do is have them copy all doc's I want, then I scan them in at home on my "copier/printer"... The one that I have is a Epson Stylus CX4200 with a flat bed scanner. The scanner lid comes off so no pressure on the doc, or it the item is a book etc.. it won't squash it, and if the item is too large you can remove the lid and work around it. I will keep an eye out on a portable scanner for you thou. Hugs Cuz Becky [email protected] http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ttg13/ "'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.
