G. Pendleton Goode of near Pineville, will be conducted from the Cook Memorial Baptist Church today at 11 a.m. with the Rev. E. I. Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Sturgill Cemetery on the Goode home place, Bearhole Fork. Mrs. Goode died at home at 1:30 a.m. Friday of a cancer of the stomach after having been ill in health for the past six years. Born near Ravencliff, October 3, 1883, she was the daughter of the late Ben H. and Mary Ann Brooks. On July 20, 1904, she was united in marriage to the Rev. Mr. Goode, well-known Wyoming County teacher, historian, and minister. she was an active member of the Pine Grove and Rockcastle Baptist Churches for 47 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons and two daughters: Virgil A. Goode, Arnold Goode, Bert Goode, Mrs. John S. Lambert, all of Pineville, and Miss Maggie Lee Goode, of Charleston; three step-children, Mrs. Wade H. Lemon, Ravencliff, and Howard Goode and Mrs. Fred Tuner, of Tams; five brothers and two sisters; Johnston Brooks, Glen Fork; the Rev. W. F. Brooks, Jesse; Garland Brooks and Kelly Brooks and Mrs. Wiley W. Smith, Princeton; Mrs. Rebecca Adkins, Glen Fork, and Arthur Brooks, Kingston, Tennessee. Twenty-six grandchildren also survive Thanks for the obit. Her sister Mrs. Rebecca Adkins (wife of Alan Adkins) was grandmother of my first cousins for whom I keep records. Rebecca and Alan still have a child or two living, and one of their granddaughters was married to the late George Yonce - one of my favorite gospel singers.
