Hi, I am descended from James Madison Moran, who, when he was under his parents' names in the Census, was listed as Mournen or Mornin and other such. His father's name was William and his mother's name was Member or Memory. Some of his other descendants are called Morning or Mourning. This is a big mess of a brick wall. After Member or Memory and William had several children together he next turns up married to a Stewart. I can find no mention of a divorce in any records nor a mention of a marriage. Were Member/Memory and William married or common-law? If common-law, I believe a divorce is still a necessity. Can anyone help me with this family branch of my tree?
