Latest communications with Sally Williams. Lee Mon 02/04 A lady from Meals On Wheels came out and took my application. She said if my refrigerator or microwave ever go out that SMUD will give me a replacement free of charge. Also Rebuilding Together will send out retired people to put in a shower bar and shower mat, also free of charge. If I want a shower chair I just phone in and ask for it. They are very concerned with my safety and prefer I not cook. Within about 2 hours I had a call that "David will be delivering my frozen meals every Wed. between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. There is no charge but donations are accepted and $2 a day is recommended. Wed 02/06 At 1:45 I answer a knock at the door. So much for 830-930 delivery. There was David with 5 frozen dinners, 5 fruit, 5 servings of milk, 8 slices of bread and 4 pats of butter. Did I get shorted on bread and butter? David left a menu for the month. The 12th and 18th are holidays with no meal delivery. So I assume I'll only get 4 meals those weeks. I was so starved I heated the ham/yams dinner as soon as he was gone. The trays are twice the depth of an ordinary TV dinner but they are not filled with twice the food, ha ha. It was filling even without eating the fruit and milk. I've had better but of course I only tried the one dinner. I'm grateful to have these available and I like knowing I have something I can just pop into the microwave at anytime. I'd be especially grateful if I were unable to cook, which has happened on numerous occasions. When I go into my sleep modes I may only be awake 3 minutes. Many a time I awakened, went potty, popped a TV dinner into the microwave and was asleep again in less than three minutes. The next time I awakened I tried to stay awake long enough to eat. It doesn't always work that way though. This past week I had 2 1/2 wonderful days. I was alert, rested, eneregetic, etc. even had my hair done. Then the slump hit hard and fast. I went into my sleep mode again. It's like being in a semi-coma. Of course I missed appointments big time. What else when you sleep 23 of 24 hours, eat, then sleep another 11 hours, eat, then sleep another 7 hours. I know, some of you are saying to yourself "then don't eat". I've tried that too. It doesn't work. Well I didn't make a very good impression on the missionaries. I was taking them to dinner one night and of course I didn't show up. Here I am fighting sleep already so until next time. Sally and all the other names I'm known by. **************Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music.
