Acord Dies; Rites Slated Funeral services for Charles Ellet Acord, 66, of Crab Orchard, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cool Ridge Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. George Speck in charge, assisted by Rev. Leslie Lilly. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. He died at 1:30 a.m. Monday in a local hospital after an apparent heart attack. Born Oct. 26, 1903 at Hotchkiss, he was the son of Mrs. Laura Acord of North Carolina, and the late William Acord. He was a retired coal miner. Additional survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rosie Pearl Acord; four sons, George C. of Itmann, William G. of Slab Fork and Roy L. and Charles V. Acord both of Corinne; a daughter, Mrs. Sylvia E. Fraley of Hotchkiss; two half-brothers, Gene and Otis Cook both of North Carolina; a sister, Mrs. Macie Weaver and Mrs. Alda Welling, both of Florida, and three half-sisters, Mrs. Naomi Jones also of North Carolina; Mrs. Ruth Linthicum of Virginia and Mrs. Andy McIntyre of Baltimore, Md., 20 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bill Minter, Lacy Dixon, Eugene Cook, Harry Cook, Ivan Acord and Ralph Mullins.
