Lee Hash Peter G. Cozart came from Ashe County, N.C. in about the year 1824 and married Sally Acord, a daughter of old John Acord who was probably living at Bacontown in Raleigh county. Peter G. Cozart and his brother John Haywood Cozart came from England and settled first settled on Tar River in orth Carolina. One was a carpenter and the other a blacksmith. The brother that was a blacksmith, picked up a flint rock from the river which he used as an anvil, he had brought his hammer with him. They both came to Raleigh County, and after his marriage. Peter G. Cozart entered a 75 acre tract of land on Laurel Fork in 1836. This land was up in Skin Popular Gap on the Wyoming County side. Here he built his cabin and reared his family. Sally Acord was the mother of John Dunn who settled on the head of Slab Creekand had married a Christian before her marriage to Cozart
