Joel, Are you any relation to Arnold and Jessie Hager of Oceana [in the 50's]? At that time they had been singing on the radio and were somewhat celebrities. I went to school with their son Bobby. We used to sing duets in Miss Byrd's music class. I guess you might say that Bobby was my first big crush. We were only in Kopperston until March 1953 and we moved to California. I would say that those years were so much fun. We lived at the head of the holler, just above the company store. I remember that was a time when Oceana put in a catfish pond and everyone in Kopperston would go down and catch enough to fill a wash tub. I entered the 1850, 1860 and 1870 Wyoming County census information for all families I had in my database as well as the marriage records from the Wyoming County West Virginia Marriages 1854-1910 by Ronald Ray Turner. As with any research I could have made some bad assumptions or made some errors. I am always available to make corrections. Enjoy the Holidays! I certainly had no intention of offending anyone. To be honest I only looked at the page that was forwarded to me so just assumed it was considered their correct version. I will learn to read more and assume less, one of these days. Again I apologize and maybe after the holidays I can send you some corrections on my family if you are still working on the database.
