    1. Re: [WVWYOMIN] Roll Call ..
    2. Yep Sherry, the Greens are a mess somewhat. We are not sure of their true orgin as several Greens were in the area at the same time. Maybe you can "connect" somhow to what I'm sending. Lee GREEN It is said the Green’s originated in England in the 12th Century. We find a John Green who came to America from Wiltshire England in about the year 1635 and settled in Massachusetts. Late in the 17th Century, William Green, a branch of the Nathaniel Greens, left England and arrived in Philadelphia. From there he went to New York where he first settled at Newtown on Long Island in the area of what is now Brooklyn. It was here he met and married Joanna Reeder in about the year 1692. William and his family later removed to Ewing, N.J. shortly before 1700. There he purchased 350 acres of land from the Severns and Brearly families and first occupied the wooden farmhouse on the Severn farm. William Green Sr. died June 16, 1722 in Trenton New Jersey and is buried in the Ewing Church Cemetery. Among the children of William Green Sr. and Joanna Reeder were: Richard; Joseph, William, Benjamin, John, Geremiah, Isaac, Joanna, Sarah, Esther, and Mary Green. William Green died June 16, 1722 in Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey Geremiah Green, a son of William Green and Joanna Reeder, was born in Hunterdon County New Jersey where he married Joanna Hunt. In about the year 1762, Geremiah and his family, along with other families, removed as “The New Jersey Settlers” down the Old Wagon Road through Virginia to Rowan County North Carolina. Here they formed the “Jersey Settlement”. Shortly after their arrival, Geremiah Green was granted some 541 acres of land in November 1762. His grant was located on the waters of the Athus, also known as the Pee Dee River.. >From records and researchers, we note that Geremiah and Joanna had 7 known children: Richard who married Eleanor Sullivan, a daughter of E.C. Sullivan; Joanna “Hannah” married Landrine Eggers; Sarah married a Wilson; Jeremiah (Jr) married Polly Wiseman; John married Hannah Hunt on January 16, 1779, a daughter of Daniel Hunt; Isaac Green married Margaret ___; Stephen Green, a Tory, settled in Davidson County. Geremiah Green Sr. died prior to January 12, 1763, where on that date, the Rowan County Court ordered that Hannah Green, Richard Green and Isaac Green to be the administrators of his estate. (Hannah was the wife of John Green) Jeremiah Green, a son of Geremiah, married Mary “Polly” Wiseman October 31, 1775. They raised 11 children, among whom were Isaac who probably married Mary Booth December 22, 1793; Stephen; Richard who settled in the Blowing Rock community; Jeremiah Jr. who married Anne Hartley April 2, 1790; and John Green. John Green, who, as a Revolutionary War Veteran, was living in Yancy County at the home of James Buckhanon in 1840 at age 73. He received a pension October 22, 1832. In his application he failed to provide the names of his parents, however from family tradition he married Elizabeth Jones. John Green died June 2, 1853 at the home of Sidney Young leaving no widow. In 1856 his surviving children were James, Joseph, Arthur, Aaron and Isabella JOSHUA GREEN: Considerable research has been done on the lineage of Joshua Green who migrated into what is now Wyoming County with a large family. As yet there is no evidence on the ancestry of Joshua back to William Green and Joanna Reeder, or to their son Geremiah who settled in Yancy County, North Carolina. It has been said Joshua, born in about the year 1799, was a son of Stephen Green with no proof in fact that he was. It has been reported that Stephen had settled on the forks of the Yadkin River in 1786. However we find records of a Stephen Green who married Polly Buchanan in Wythe County, Virginia on June 9, 1790. He was not present there in the Tax Census for 1793. We do locate Drury, John, Joseph, Alasha, Joseph, Isaac and Ruben Green in Wythe County during that period. Isaac and Ruben were recorded north of Walkers Mountain during that Census with 4 horses. No land transactions have been found for a Green in that area. The afore Greens listed were without horses. **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)
