    1. [WVWYOMIN] Wyoming County Newsletter - A great idea
    2. Jim Burgess
    3. Mike, I think that starting up the Wyoming County newsletter is a great idea. My Wyoming County families are Burgess, Browning, Toler, Riggins, Vance - also interested in the Blankenship, Belcher, Grimmett and several other families who are related to the Toler family. I would like to write a letter on Richard Toler and Elisha Toler and try to clean up that mess that I made. My web site is now up www.virginiasurnames.com The 1850 Wyoming County, Virginia Census is posted on the Logan County, Virginia recreated page. I need to get members of the list to help with updating the Wyoming County families. I know that Sally struggled for years with Families of Wyoming County. We need to support Matthew with this endeavor. I am more than willing to lend my hand. In recent years I have learned that many families in Wyoming County have Hanover County, Virginia and Franklin County, Virginia ties. If we study families with Wyoming county with Hanover and Franklin Counties I think we will find some special nuggets. We could have a lot of fun with this project. Thanks Jim Burgess www.virginiasurnames.com

    3. I am seeing all the votes for Matthew (I'm guessing Burns), yet I have not seen the e-mail where Matthew agreed to take or applied for the job. Someone fill in the blanks. On a recent trip back home, I found that there are several people who subscribed to FOWC who are not "wired" and so do not know of Sally's health problems. When their subscriptions stopped coming, they did not know why. I personally had issues on my subscription that I did not receive, but it did not bother me because I knew the situation. It doesn't bother me now either, but I would suggest before anyone tries to rebuild the old subscription base, they should obtain Sally's files and send out explanations for what has happened and why it wont happen again. Otherwise, people will not have confidence in the project. Whichever way it goes, I will continue to support the effort with material for publication and as a subscriber. 3. With everyone's help, I'd be honored to continue the legacy of the FOWC newsletter. If all other response is like yours Lee, then the next step is compiling information for the "first" issue. Anyone have anything they would like to have in the new issue? Stories? Old newspaper items? Questions? Photos? I'd like to have something out by mid-January. Also, if you would like to be added to the mailing list (and receive the FOWC newsletter), email your name and email to me. Also, any and all idea's, categories, suggestions, etc. for the newsletter are welcomed. Email me the information that you would like to have something in the first new issue of FOWC, at: [email protected] Thanks, Matthew [email protected] wrote: Matthew you are now "elected" to continue FOWC and have Sally's permission. 1. Re: [WVWYOMIN] FOWC (IDEA, please read)

    3. Hello Everyone, I have a suggestion for you all. I can volunteer my time and expertise with creating newsletters if some folks want to try to keep a Wyoming County newsletter alive. I can get information that I can find online and what sources I have access to (state archives, WV collection). If folks want to send me items of interest concerning Wyoming County families, we could possibly get out a newsletter every month or so. I doubt it'd be as good as what Sally has done over the years, but at least it would keep a form of the newsletter from dying. Of course, the newletter would be available online, perhaps we could compile an email list. Unless Sally would gives us the "okay", I think she should perhaps use a different name since i don't know how anything will turn out, it really would be dependent on information contributions by readers. Just an idea, what do you all think of it? I just don't want the newsletter to die out. It really is a good resource, and we all know that once things die, it is hard to revive them. Since I used to create a bi-weekly newsletter for Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, I have experience in doing creating newsletters. Just trying to offer what skills I can. If at some point in the future, someone wants to take over the endeavor, I'd be fine with it. By doing it electronic, we could keep costs down, (I'd do it for free), but we would need cooperation from all you good folks out there to get information on families, items to add, perhaps an obituary collection section (both recent and old obits), important events in Wyoming County genealogy, notable Wyoming Countians, perhaps an old newspaper article or two per issue, old photos, perhaps a story or two (like what Stan has been writing on here lately). All are just ideas, but if we can keep the concept of the Wyoming newsletter alive, it would be worth it. Be honest, if you like the idea and would like to contribute, please let me know. If you think this is a lousy idea, let me know. Really, it is just an idea. If we would decide to go forward with this, we'd need email addresses, and if people would want hard-copies mailed, they'd have to pay for that (I'd estimate about 75 cents an issue). I'd say an issue every month or perhaps every two months would be best. I would appreciate everyone's feedback, if you all think it is a lousy idea, that is alright too. I have a scrapbook with pictures and clippings from those days in the late thirties and early forties. Years later, I married another Wyoming County basketball star as Ken was captain of the all county and all conference teams in WV. He played at Baileysville and started all four years at guard. The first time that I ever saw him was on the basketball court when they played Pineville, now a long time ago.
