My database is a research database not a piece of published work. I have tried to document the sources as I go. If anyone has any questions about assumptions I have made or sources please let me know and I will do my best to answer your questions. If I have any errors in my database I am also actively making corrections and updating on a regular basis. When I hit the big one I would be happy to donate the proceeds to Lee's favorite charity. 2. Karen, have we corresponded on the Atkins/Brooks lines in Glen Fork? My aunt Hettie Hurley married Clark Atkins (son of Alan Atkins and Rebecca E. Brooks) who lived at Glen Fork. Alan was born in Raleigh Co; Rebecca in Wyoming Co. I remember both of them. My friend/classmate from Pineville, Darrell Miller, was my biggest help on those lines. 3. Hi, I'm all for a news letter and a big thanks to you, Mathew for taking it over. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. My lines are: Cunningham Howerton Shrewsbury Bailey Graham Akers There are more, but these are the main ones right now. Would love to see pictures also of the areas in Wyoming county where every one lived and the houses (log cabins) they lived in. I can't get enough history and since I started doing my genealogy 3 years ago, I have learned alot and acquired a lot of info, mostly because of such friendly folks on the internet and anything I can do to give back would be a pleasure. Sincerely, Willa Davidson Michelle mcguire <[email protected]> wrote: >Hello I am researching my family lines in Wyoming County West Virginia and even before in became Wyoming County : Whitt Lester simpson mccomas Cox Sizemore Pendry McGuire Bell Belcher Mckinney They are a few others but, it would be nice to explore each area of Wyoming concerning the History. Pictures of where things happen all around Wyoming County(even if they are no longer there or where something happen), even back when it was Wythe Co and so forth. I just got into doing family research and the best thing I like doing is interview the peolple who knew it, saw it, or parents passed it down to them. Alot of our elderly in our communities have a lot to offer, more that some think. But Thanks for the news letter I do so look forward to it. 3. Hi Sherry, I'm pretty sure I have seen this site before. The bad thing with following sites is that you don't know where the information came from. It could be his own work, it could be copied, etc. I have even heard of people changing information for the reason being they do not want people copying what they have researched. Alot of people want to publish, some I'm sure are in it to help others and some for money. That's why I'm always scared to post pictures, info or etc. I have posted 2 pictures to sites for other people that are now in book form. Granted not my book..lol It's too easy to save and scan and make copies. Not that it really matters I guess but it just seems to take away from my originals, and if they would have asked it would have been different. Ok..I will get off my soap box. lol I will tell you that just from the first page you have sent me , the information does not match mine. Although alot of this is correct, I soppose I'm just anal about having the exact info. It could be why I haven't gotten as far back as most people post. lol If I don't have a court record or family bible I keep the information on the backburner. Anyways, this is my family on this first page. Laura Mullins was my grandmother and she lived until May of last year. She was 89 when she passed. There are other family members not listed and William Robert was not her fathers name. But of course this info could be different by whichever census he used also. The spelling, listings, etc. may be different. It's just so hard to know. I think these sites are ok to give you possibly another lead but the work is better if it's your own. All of this of course is just my opinion.. Hugs, Alicia

    3. Jim, Thanks for the vote of confidence and support, I'm sure I will need lots of help with this. The idea you put forth to look at Franklin and Hanover Counties in Virginia sounds like a great idea to me. We can certainly do that. I am willing to put most anything in the newsletter, really i'm just putting it together and am relying on others to put in items that they will think are of interest to Wyoming County. I try to keep in mind that the lives we lead and writings we do today are going to be the information that our grandchildren will be looking at as historical writings in their day!! We can do alot of good things with this newsletter if we all work together. Matthew Jim Burgess <[email protected]> wrote: Mike, I think that starting up the Wyoming County newsletter is a great idea. My Wyoming County families are Burgess, Browning, Toler, Riggins, Vance - also interested in the Blankenship, Belcher, Grimmett and several other families who are related to the Toler family. I would like to write a letter on Richard Toler and Elisha Toler and try to clean up that mess that I made. My web site is now up www.virginiasurnames.com The 1850 Wyoming County, Virginia Census is posted on the Logan County, Virginia recreated page. I need to get members of the list to help with updating the Wyoming County families. I know that Sally struggled for years with Families of Wyoming County. We need to support Matthew with this endeavor. I am more than willing to lend my hand. In recent years I have learned that many families in Wyoming County have Hanover County, Virginia and Franklin County, Virginia ties. If we study families with Wyoming county with Hanover and Franklin Counties I think we will find some special nuggets. We could have a lot of fun with this project.
