Looking for a death record for Sarah Mcmillian ACORD (Wife of William Calvin ACORD, b. 1829 in Monroe Co., VA) b. 1833 in Patrick (?) Co., VA and married in 1848 in the Raleigh Co., VA portion of Fayette Co., VA and died in 1905 in Raleigh Co. or Wyoming Co. or Logan Co. or Boone Co. , WV. I'm quite sure it was Raleigh but can't find a record of it and she was living with William very close to the other Counties mentioned. Sarah was most likely the d/o Abraham MCMILLIAN (most likely the s/o Henry MCMILLIAN & Sarah DANIEL) & Elizabeth MILLER, that came to Fayette Co., VA, the Raleigh Co., VA part, (in the 1840 VA Census) and left Raleigh close to 1870 for Kanawha Co., WV where they died in 1879 (Abraham) and 1892. I'm trying to prove that Sarah is there Daughter, even though I have a lot of circumstantial evidence indicating that. Thank you. Tim Spradling Please try my NEW revised web page SPRADLING NEW home page listing five generations of my Ancestors all from VA/WV and a lot of surnames of their Ancestors & Siblings

While I am not related to any of the Italian immigrants in Wyoming County, I have been very interested in locating information on those Italian stonemasons who built the Courthouse and the company building in Itman. Their work is spectacular; however, I've not located any of their names. I thought perhaps the work done on the county by the WPA Writer's Project might contain some clues but I don't have access to the entire work at the present. If you ever locate your Italians, I would appreciate knowing what their line of work was. Cathy
Hi, all, Does anyone have any information regarding Italian immigrants in Wyoming County? In particular, I'm looking for (a needle in a haystack?) information on one particular family. Here's my limited information - DOMINIC JONES (Name was supposedly changed after entering US) married to (possibly) Elizabeth Barney Jones 3 sons: (they had no middle names) Ray Mike Joe (Ray was my father. I never saw him after about age 5. His family history has always eluded me.) Dominic died in a mine accident in the 20's, I believe. All 3 boys fought in WWII. Mike died (away from WV) at an early age. Joe married a woman named Lake (last nameunknown) Ray was married 3 times: First wife unknown, they had a son called Smokey. Second marriage to Janice Cook. Lots of info on her line. Third marriage to Eva Smallwood. He died in the 60's. Wife, Elizabeth, was an Irish immigrant, I believe. Courthouse records in Wyoming Co were searched years ago, and turned up nothing. Dominic's only records showed only he was from Italy. This has been a mystery for a very long time. My brother and I would love to find out more. Such as, -Dominic's last name and family info. -Smokey's name and whereabouts. He may still be in Wyo Co. He'd be in his 50's. He's my half-brother. -Elizabeth's family info. Any clues? Connie in Va.
