Hello All, I apologize for any duplicates you may received due to posting to several lists. Ercel MULLINS, died on Sunday 11/14/1999. http://www.kentuckyconnect.com/heraldleader/news/111599/obits/ddocs/obits.h tm "FLEMING-NEON Ercel Mullins, 84, Jackhorn, retired coal miner, Army veteran of World War II, uncle of Hazel Kiser, died yesterday. Services 11 a.m. Wednesday, Hemphill Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation 6 p.m. today and Tuesday, Banks Funeral Home." Ercel MULLINS was the son of my g-grandfather Alexander MULLINS (1870-1946) and Laura Bell HALL (1882-1943). I found Alexander and Laura in the 1910 & 1920 Knott Co. Census books published by the Letcher Co. Genealogical and Historical Society: 1910 Knott Co. His sister was Nancy MULLINS (1867-1945), who married Dr. Giles SHORES (abt 1855-bef1945) in Mullen, WV. Nancy then became a midwife and was known as Granny SHORES. I am stuck at Alex and Nancy MULLINS parents. Who were they? I believe they are somehow related to Andrew Jackson MULLINS -- who founded Mullens WV. But, no proof. I was told that Alex MULLINS and Nancy MULLINS also had two brothers (Jack and Harrison) and a sister Eliza. Alex MULLINS death certificate lists that he was born in WV and the son of Bill MULLINS. Nancy (MULLINS) SHORES death certificate lists that she was the daughter of Rachael MULLINS and born in WV. Please contact me if you know anything about ANY of these ancestors. Most of the McKinney's in Wyoming Co are NOT descended from Yancy Co, NC lines, as far as I can tell. The earliest were present in Montgomery Co VA, 1790s Freddie Spradlin FSpradlin@earthlink.net 3448 W. 170th St. Torrance, CA 90504 > McKINNEY was one of the families who came from Yancey Co., NC. To those of you who would like to place a free query in my publication "Families of Wyoming Co., WV", the query MUST show a connection to Wyoming Co. The query needs a time period, not just names, and to help eliminate errors it would be most helpful to capitalize all surnames. Please include your home mailing address for other subscribers to respond, as most of my subscribers do not have Email. Sally Seaman-Williams

Eleanor Butler Dobbs 1806 Pontiac Road Fairview Hts., IL 62208-1526 Thanks for your interest.
Ray Hunt, Please see my page at www.jps.net/ssnwms/ regarding both of my publications, "Families of Wyoming Co., WV" and "Families of Yancey Co., NC". The GREENS and numerous other families moved from Yancey Co., NC to Wyoming Co., WV. If I remember correctly the GREENS were in Burke Co., NC prior to the formation of Yancey Co. in 1833. I am in the process of making a cumulative index for FOYC Volumes 1 thru Volume 10. I have completed the cumulative index for Volume 11 thru 15. When finished, I will start a cumulative index for the 13 volumes of FOWC. The GREENS are of course mentioned in FOYC but I doubt there is much before 1800 in them. Sally Seaman-Williams
Eleanor Dobbs, If you will send me your home mailing address I will publish your YOUNG/BUTLER query in the next isssue of Families of Wyoming Co., WV. Sally Seaman-Williams at ssnwms@jps.net

Doug, Thanks to you and Bille for this data on the Lester families. It seems that the Lester Apps were of the Cataba tribe maybe. However I'll check my Cherokee by Blood to gather further info. Ofttimes the e, if rejected were required to dive depositions. These files offer "reason" and ancestorial traditions. Thanks again for the down load. It worked. Will be leaving in the AM to pick up my grand daughter from UVA at Wise Va for Thanksgiving. Take care and many thanks. Lee Hash

Just found n the Rev. Goode Ledger re: Settler Cooke land grants. (2) The second tract was for 93 acres where Jesse, W. Va. is now located. This tract was given by the Settler to his younger son, James who married Docia Meadows and settled here about 1808. Four of his sons settled in this neighborhood. (1) Josiah who married Jane Canterbury; (2) Lewis who married Nancy Canterbury; (3) William Agra Cook who married Malinda Cook; (4) MAJ. Green M. Cook who married Margaret Cooke and inherited his fathers home place.
n transcribing the Ledger of Rev. G.P. Goode, as many of you suggested, I will use footnotes as I did transcribing the records of the Rockcastle Baptist Church. There I also had a brief biography section at the end which included available pictures at the time. However, as also suggested, I will will use endnotes, as many of his writings can be updated etc: I would like to add as many early pictures of the area and of early pioneers as can be found. So if anyone has such, please let me know. Will arrange for copying. .. This is important as it may be the last opprotunity to share these important photoes. Thanks Lee Hash
Searching for Mary Cook who married James Spencer in Greenbrier Co. 1833. She must have dropped out of the sky and after giving birth to 9 children went by the same way.
