    2. The land survey ref for John Cook I earlier sent to the net this AM does not appear to be located in Wyo. Co. Sorry. Here is a description as transcribed: Surveyed for John Cook 230 acres land by virtue of an Entry made on a certificate from the Commission for the District of Washington and Montgomery County for 300 acres dated the 9th of September 1782: lying in Montgomery County on the big Spring the waters of Walker Creek and new river. Beginning at three Elms in a Hollow and running thence. (trees etc) Feburary 21, 1783 Jas Breckenridge Asst. John Preston

    2. Good Morning all, Spent a couple hours at the Montgomery County Court House at Christiansburg yeaterday. I had returned my grand daughter to college at WIse and stopped on the way back to Culpeper. I copied the plats of John Cook (no "e") and Thomas Huff. The Huff plat is on the Guyandotte River. He entered 920 acres (No. 1408) on March 13, 1782. He also had survey for 520 acres on June 14, 1782. Also copied a plat for a John Cook of 230 acres surveyed September 19, 1782 on the waters of Walker Creek. Don't know where this is, but.... When leaving, one of the kind ladies asked if I had seen the early marriage bonds and escorted me to a small area where these records are kept. I didn't copy any but found the marriage bonds for William Lester and Rachel Skaggs 3/22/1876. and Abraham Workman and Margaret Lester on 9/24/1785 and David McComas and Cloe Bailey on 1/11/1787. These bonds were VERY interesting as more than just the dates are there. SORRY I didn't copy them. The next time through will spend more time. Lee Hash

    3. My family Civil War story: My GGgrandfather Wall (I believe his name to be Harvey) was supposed to have served in the Union Army and was said to have been shot in the back as he was returning home to Raleigh Co. after the war was over. This was said to have occured on Bolt Mt. and the shooter was said to be a Daniel. Does anyone else know anything about this occurence? I don't know which side of the mountain this happened on. Help me solve this mystery! Pat

    3. Hi Kathy thanks for your offer I have her parents as Franklin SIZEMORE and Mary WORKMAN and Elijah's parents as James W. COOK and Deborah COZART. I was looking for where Elijah and Harriet are buried. I have a date of death for Harriet of 12-26-1898 in Wyoming county but I have no death date for Elijah. This is one of my husbands lines that I am trying to do for him, my husbands other line are the HASH's. His father was a COOK descendent and his mother was a Hash descendent. I received alot of information from a subscriber on this list awhile back and I am now trying to fill in some. I just subscribed to Sally's FOWC and can't wait to start receiving that. I also belong to the Hash Family Historian and have all the back issues if anyone needs info from that. Thanks Cookie Carey Cooper Baltimore, Md Ashlinn@msn.com
