    3. Do you have any more information on Doris Dunnegan. I have Lusk and Dunnigans in my line. Strangely though the Mother of my great grandmother, Jeanette Brown was a daughter to Amanda Priscilla Lusk. who married William Jasper Brown. Jeanette married William Riley Dunnigan. This was much later than your info. Late 1800's and early 1900's The furthest I've traced my Dunnigans was 1850 in Surry Co NC. 2. Becky, the following is an excerpt of the first grand jury activity as written by Goode. The first term of the Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery was held in the house of John Cook Esq. on Tuesday the 16th day of April 1850. The first Grand Jury in Wyoming County received its charge, retired and after due deliberation returned the following eight indictments: Indictment against: 1. Henry McMillon breech of the peace 2. Geo. W. Elswick 3. Saul Mullens and Jincy Young co-habitation 4. Wm. S__?__ and Clarissa Kales co-habitation 5. Wm. K. Mullens and Sally Stanley co-habitation

    2. Becky, I will have to take another look at your quest for Collins. Here is something that may be of interest that Goode wrote. William Riffe moved to the Buffalo Settlement. He was born in 1803 in Tazwell County. He married Sarah Trent of Russell County and came to Little Huff Creek in 1844. Their children were five boys and eight girls: (1) Dicey married Marshall Roberts and settled in McDowell County. (2) Lewis Riffe married Margaret Collins. (3) Polly married John Collins. (4) Sookie married Benj. Collins. (5) William Riffe Jr. married Sarah Beverly and settled on Wild Cat of Huff Creek. (6) Betsey married John Gibson and lived in McDowell County. (7) John Riffe married Pricy Wilson and settled Muzzel Creek of Little Huff. (8) Margaret married Jacob Puckett and settled on Dry Fork of Tug River. (9) Sarah married Monterville Blankenship and settled on Dry Fork. (10) H.F. Riffe married Nancy Asbury and settled on Muzzle Creek. (11) Cloe married Willis Blankenship and settled on Knox Creek in Buchanan County, Virginia. (12) Fred Riffe married Elinora Davis and settled on Muzzle Creek. (12) Nancy Riffe never married.

    2. More tid-bits on the Lusk family. Rev. Goode writes, in part: It seems that the Lusks came from England and first settled in North Carolina. There, William Lusk was born about 1770 and married Dorcas Dunnegan. Some years after the Revolutionary War, Wm. Lester moved west to get where game was more plentiful. He had two daughters and one son. It seems that his wife had died before he moved in this direction, and while in crossing the New River, one of his daughters, Dorcus by name, drowned,. It is not known what became of the other daughters. Joseph, his son, came with his father to into Wyoming County. Joseph married Dicey Bailey, a daughter of Archibald Bailey

    3. List members, family and Friends, I would like to invite everybody to view my Christmas webpage and share with me the holiday spirit. My website is a combination of my personal family genealogy but also goes into the research of my COLLINS line and the connection between the Melungeons and the Native Americans. It has articles and material many of you folks have sent me and given me permission to use. I want to thank each and everyone for sharing ....... Some know that I have a number of health problems and a few years ago I thought I was going to have to give up my hobby and become a vegetable but then I have 7 children and 18 grands that kept this old granny going. My children provided me with this computer and they keep it going for me. I can't hold a pen or pencil any more but I can communicate through this machine. My first site Appalachian Mountain Families was co hosted by two cousins and myself. In June of this year I uploaded Appalachia Creek Family History and Research. It has given me so much pleasure to bring these pages to you, and the pleasure of giving back some of what has been shared with me, to those just starting out on their search into their heritage. In many ways this site and all the friends ,family and loved ones that I have meet and remained in communication with over the past couple years have been my life savers, God bless each and everyone. Wishing you a Merry Christmas . BTW don't forget to stop by and sign my guestbook. Brenda Collins Dillon http://members.xoom.com/BJ_Dillon/Appalachiack.htm
