Ira J. Lamm BELMONT - Ira J. Lamm, 79, of Belmont went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at St. Marys. Mr. Lamm was born Aug. 13, 1924, at Beason in Ritchie County, W.Va., to the late Ira M. and Ada Bernice Mullenax. He represented the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. for more than 45 years from his office in Belmont. He was a graduate of Pennsboro High School with the class of 1942. He was a member of the former Lions Club of Belmont and enjoyed membership in the St. Marys Golf Club. He participated in the Monday Senior League at Emerson Lanes and the Wednesday Night Men's League at Ren-Dor Lanes of Parkersburg. He was a veteran of World War II with the 101st Airborne in the European Theater and was a member and treasurer of the Belmont United Methodist Church. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra K. and Phillip Smith of Williamstown; a daughter, Judith Ann Lamm of Belmont; a son and daughter-in-law, Marvin E. and Sandie Lamm of New Martinsville, W.Va.; and grandchildren, Julie Lamm Thorn and Jaime Smith Lewis, both of Morgantown, W.Va., Casey Lamm of Pepperell, Mass., Jodie Lamm of New Martinsville and Stacey Smith of Little Rock, Ark. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lamm was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lila M. Cunningham Lamm, who passed from this life on Feb. 18, 2004; brothers, Donald, Ronald, Eustace and an infant; sisters, Geraldine Penningar and Genevieve Bunner; and sister-in-law, Emma Jean Barnard. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with the Rev. Dan Deem officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery at Finch in Ritchie County. Friends may call from 4:30-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. It is preferred that memorials to the life of Ira J. Lamm be made to the American Heart Association, Box 12110, Charleston, WV 25302.
