I believe the progenitor of the Wags there may have been Frederick Waggoner, born 1796 in Cresaptown, Allegany Co., MD. I'm just now beginning research in Wood Co. Seeing not only your Wagner name but also the McElfresh name threw up a flag to me because the McElfishes are all over Allegany Co. MD! There are several variations on that surname, as I'm sure you can well imagine, but I'd say little doubt it connects somehow. I'd be happy to share info with you...feel free to e-mail me.
