    1. [WVWOOD] obituary and death certificate look up
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Belknap, Jones, Tidd Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DFC.2ACI/2291 Message Board Post: I am in need of some help locating my great-great aunt's remains. Family records have only that she died in February of 1936. Mable Grace Tidd married William Jones March 25, 1901 in Jackson County, Ohio. When William died in 1926, Mable took the children and moved to West Virginia. The 1930 census shows they were living in Tygart Township, Wood County, West Virginia. Recently "rumors" indicate that she may have re-married to a man named BELKNAP. To date, we have been unable to find any death records for either Jones or Belknap. Is there someone who would be willing and able to check the death records and the obituaries for February 1936 in Wood County for me? I am more than willing to pay for copies and postage if these items can be found. I realize that with no exact date, that the research may take a while and I understand that. Those of us remaining are peplexed as to her whereabouts. All who would know for sure are now gone. I would be most grateful for any and all help. Thank you in advance.

    1. [WVWOOD] North Carolina > Wood County migrations
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Gibson Gambriel Gambrill Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DFC.2ACI/2290 Message Board Post: Any one have family in Wood county who came from North Carolina in the 1804 - 1810 time period? James Gibson shows up on the Tax Records in 1805. That same year he was sued by Edward Gambriel to collect $11.00 owed for over a year. In 1806 Edward Gambriel shows up on the tax list. In 1810 Ann Gambrill appears on the federal Census, probably a widow at the time. I think she came to Wood County to join her son Edward, after the death of her husband. Family tradition indicates they came from North Carolina. Does anyone else have family moving from North Carolina to Wood County?

    2. Chris Beck
    3. Will be traveling to Parkersburg to research family history next week. Do any locals have any advice on where to research? (library, courthouse, and are there any historical societies or other collections housed in another place?) Also, does anyone know if there is a street in Parkersburg called "Saunders Street or Avenue or Blvd?" We want to find ancestral graves in Riverview Cemetery. Does anyone know if there is a directory at the cemetery or anywhere? An other advice for our travel would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Chris Beck thebecks@ncn.net

Her name was Luella Thomas Bashore Wood . SHe was born in Gallia Co., Ohio . She married Silas L. Wood , they had 2 children Katy Wood Thomas (married Ed Thomas). and RObert E. L. Wood. In her brother's obituary she is list as living in Parkersburg in 1932. I have not been able to find them in the 1930 census so they could have been moving at that time. Silas was a riverboat man in the 1880 census. So, he could have worked at a port on the Ohio. I would really like to find some information on any of this family. Being that, most of my family is from Virginia, West Virginia, and western PA, and the Barton's are an extremely significant line in my heritage. I suppose that a RI branch could have been grafted in, but I have a "hunch" that this is not the case. More likely this is someone's wishful thinking because of the Mayflower connection (I was temporarily lured in by this myself!).
