    2. cheryl enyart
    3. Hi, I am new to the list. I am looking for information on a family that lived in Parkersburg around the 1920-1930's. The head of the house hold was Silas L. Wood. I have found that Silas was a Steamboat engineer on the Str. Tacoma. The last known whereabouts of the family was in an obit for his wife, Luella, brother Jacob Thomas. It refered to them as being in Parkersburg. This was in 1934. Silas worked with , and was closed to Jesse P. Hughes , the captain of the Tacoma. I would like to know if anyone of the area has information on him and his wife Luella, son Robert E.L. Wood. He had a daughter , Katy Woods Thomas also. Any and all info would be appreciated. Also could someone tell me what township/district Parkersburg is in . I have tried to find out and here in Ohio I have not found anything. Thank you , Cheryl Enyart --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!

    1. [WVWOOD] Steele family of WVA
    2. I have been blocked for 35 years.......time is running out!!!! Does anyone know of a Steele family who emmigrated from VA about 1810? The wife and family (6 children) of Allen Ball supposedly traveled with them across the Allegheny mountains in company with the Bennet (t) family to settle in Wood County, (later Wirt) WVA. I have checked the 1810 census of both VA and MD. I find a J. Steel in the 1810 Frederick Cnty., MD census as a neighbor of W. Ball, S. Ball and H. Ball and a Joseph Bennet as neighbor to Wm. Ball, James Ball, John Ball, Stephen Ball, Spencer Ball and Henry Ball in the 1810 Fairfax Cnty., VA census. Any input is most welcome!!! PLEASE!!! Thanks, Good Hunting....... Molly Ball Stoddard

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Ledsome, Dye, Robertson, Criss, Copen Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DFC.2ACI/273.663.1083.1243.1419.2 Message Board Post: Do you mean to suggest that Ransom's last name is also Ledsome? Daniel and Drusilla Dye Ledsom definitely had a son named William H., born abt Jan 1837 in Wood Co., VA (now WV). William H. first married a Juliana Robertson on 10 Sept 1856 in Wirt Co. I have her parent's names, but not much more information on her. Between them, they had 12 children, none named Ransom, as far as I know. William H. then married Nancy Ann (Criss) Copen on 6 Jul 1894 in Wirt Co. I only recently learned more than her first name, so I regret that I cannot help you more. If you know the precise number of children Nancy had, and with which husbands, it would be helpful to me. In the many years that I have been researching, I have never found anything to make me question the connection between Daniel Ledsom and William. Especially given William's brother Dussaway, who was named for his maternal grandfather, the original Dussaway Dye--a quite colorful character!
