I am researching all the COON, COONS, COONTZ, KUNES, KUNTZ, etc. from Wood Co., West Virginia. I have found info on Francis M. KUNE, who had slaves, according to census records, in Wood Co. from 1811 to about 1841 when he disappears from land tax records. In 1841 Jacob COON appears in the land tax records, also one William COONS of New Jersey, who owns 500 acres. The last entry for Jacob Coon is in 1847 of the land tax records. My ancestor is Mary Ann, who married Robert Campbell. Her son's death cert. says her maiden name is COON, but another records shows it to be KULTZ or KUNTZ. Sure would be happy to know who her family was! I am accumilating a large collection of KUNTZ/ COON, etc. data if anyone else is working on one of these lines. Suzie

"Bull Creek" forms the current border with Pleasants County. This creek joins the Ohio River just above Waverly. Bull Creek splits into "Right Fork" and "Left Fork". There are no other towns along the Creek. In 1811, the border may have been different. The program I use to look up these old county border changes has just decided not to work, so I can't be more specific at the moment. The Wood County side would be in Union Magisterial District. One of my old maps has names of property owners, but none of the ones you list. Bills is a popular name in Pleasants County, mostly they live just above St. Marys. Hope this helps. Can anyone tell me where this is, or which towns or cities it is located at. My ancestors were there by 1811, according to land tax records. My ancestors were BILLS, CAMPBELLS, ENOCH(S), KUNTZ (or COON, KUNE, etc.) Are there any good history books of this area, that are older? I have already checked the Journals of George Washington that are online, and found he did the surveying of many of the people in this area, in case others are researching there also.
