Lowe...and Henson Lowe (b. MD) a few page away in the 1850 who apparently ended up in 1880 in Carlisle, Noble County, Ohio with an Elizabeth Iams. We are trying to put together the lineage of Reuben Lowe of Nelson County, Virginia. His son Lewis Napoleon Lowe married bef 1876 a Mary E. Caplinger in Wood County?, West Virginia. They had several children in Wood and then Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio. Then Lewis reportedly finally settled in Licking County, Ohio. Perhaps a coincidence with Nathan and Sarah (Brooks) Lowe moving to Licking County, Ohio also ????. Would like to visit with you about your Lowes. Bill

    1. Williamstown, WV
    2. Marjorie L. Gilliam Wood
    3. I am trying to find out about the man Williamstown WV was named. Does anyone have any history on this. My grandmother was a Williams and at a recent family reunion someone was saying that this town was named for a man that's last name was Williams and they thought he was a brother to my John Williams that settled in Gallia County, Ohio. My family came from PA to Gallia County. The story went that this man was passing through an area of Wood County WV and a flood hit. He helped save many people and then decided to stay in the area and they named this town for him. I really don't know if any of this is correct but was hoping someone from Williamstown might be on this list and could tell me. I'm looking for a connection to my John Williams and maybe someone that has more information on the family before they came to Ohio. Marjorie L. Wood woodchuck@eurekanet.com

I have been searching for years trying to find place of death for William Cheeseman. He was b in 1861 in Ohio and lived all his life in the Marietta, Parkersburg area. He was in Maine in 1937 but believe he returned to WV before he died. Ohio has no death record, nor does Maine. William worked for many years on Buckleys Island which is a part of Wood County. He was my gr grandfather. Appreciate any help you can give. Linda
